ہم عصر علمی و ادبی جرائد کے تناظر میں خرد افروز "نگار" کی انفرادیت

The Nigar is an eminent literary journal of Urdu which emerged on the literary horizons in Feb. 1922 under the editorship of the renowned literary personality Allama Niaz Fateh Puri from Agra. The journal then moved to Lucknow in 1927. It was published from Lucknow till 1962. In 1962 the journal was published from Karachi as the founder-editor Allama Niaz Fatehpuri left India seeking Pakistani nationality. The Nigar has been published from Karachi since then. Professor Dr. Farman Fatehpuri became its editor after the demise of Allama Niaz Fatehpuri in May 1966. This literary journal, from the very beginning, set new trends in Urdu literature. It promoted liberalism and enlightenment in the orthodox society of the Sub-continent through its columns, essays and editorial notes. This paper briefly presents its services from the very beginning till 2000.</p

The newness comes from Ghalib’s observation and knowledge of scientific truths to which he refers in his poetic images, metaphors and symbols. Therefore, no reference has been made to this aspect of Ghalib’s language and expression. In this paper, data has been presented from some verses to indicate Ghalib’s grasp of scientific truths of his time.</p

In the first part of the article authors discuss the definitions of culture and civilization briefly but comprehensively. After this the paper brings out the importance of culture in literature. Then there are vivid examples of cultural depiction and presentation from Urdu literature, prose as well as poetry, from ancient to modern times. The paper concludes that no piece of living art can be created without having a flavour of culture.</p

Martial General Ayub Khan (1958-69), General Yahya Khan (1969-1971) and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (1971-1977) have been analyzed in critical and objective manner. This article has briefly described various tactics i.e. legal, economic and social, used by these regimes for curtailing and curbing freedom of Press in Pakistan. Perceptions, versions and point of view of the rulers have also been mentioned by the researchers. The article concludes that both autocratic and democratic regimes have tried to fix up media practitioners and Press. The Press Govt. relations, on the whole had been deteriorated with each passing day during this specific era. The findings of the research indicate that democratic Govt. of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had adopted same stern measures for curtailing the freedom of Press as used by his predecessor dictatorial regimes.</p

Poems of MajeedAmjad reveals a story of trees, rivers, animals, birds, mountains and historical sites of Punjab. mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} Rahim Bakhsh 'Wahshat Multani' was a prominent poet of twentieth century Multani tradition of classical Urdu Poetry. In spite of hardships in finding professional livelihood, he remained close observer of human aesthetic and enjoyed it with full zeal. He was not only a regular contributor to literary circle but was a founding member of so many such literary organizations. He was used to meditate and express in the genre of Ghazal and enjoyed friendship with the prominent poets of his time. His work remained unpublished for a long time and he lost a lot of his Ghazal due to his unsettled and unorganized pattern of life. He died in Nineteen Seventies. However his manuscripts are found recently. The paper explores the life, personality and critical worth of his poetry in an elaborated manner. It also examines some of the unique features of Wahshat Multani's Ghazal.</p
