An Insight into the Samprapti of Apasmara w.r.t. Shatkriyakala
Apasmara is a disease entity described in all classics of Ayurveda with significant importance and it has been described among the Maharoga. Apasmara has striking similarities with epilepsy and has an incidence of 5-10 per every 1000 persons. It has the dubious distinction of affecting all the walks of life of an individual suffering from the disease. It is one of the disease which affects both Shareera and Manas. Both Shareerika Doshas i.e., Vata, Pitta and Kapha as well as Manasika Doshas i.e., Rajas and Tamas plays equal role in the manifestation of disease Apasmara. The factors responsible for the susceptibility to the disease have been emphasised giving them prime importance. The mutual dependence and involvement of Shareerika and Manasika Doshas are highlighted revealing the intricate nature of the Samprapti. Shatkriyakala is the process of understanding the pathogenesis of disease in consecutive stages. So here an attempt has been made to understand and highlight the Samprapti of Apasmara based on the stages of Shatkriyakala
Role of Satvavajaya Chikitsa in the management of Depression in current scenario
Mental health is the state of Emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act, it also determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Swastha is defined as âSama Dosha Samaagnischa Sama Dhatu Mala Kriyaaha Prasanna Atma Indriya Manaha Swata Ityabhidiyateâwhich highlights the importance of mental health for a healthy individual. Depression is mental health disorder characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. At its worst, depression can lead to suicide, over 8,00,000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 15-29 year olds. It is considered asâVishadaâ a condition originated from apprehension of failure resulting in incapability of mind and body to function properly.Chikitsa is broadly classified into 3 categories - Daivavyapashraya, Yuktivyapashraya and Satvavajaya. Satvavajaya is achieved by adopting âAhitebyo Arthebyo Manonigrahaâ. Satvavajaya Chikitsa plays an important role in Manasika Vyadhis. It is Adravya Bhoota Chikitsa by this one can easily overcome depression
Cerebellar Ataxia and its managemant - An Ayurvedic Approach
The cerebellar ataxia is a heterogeneous group of disorders clinically characterized by the presence of cerebellar dysfunction. These results from the involvement of cerebellum and its afferent and efferent path ways including spinocerebellar pathway, and the frontopontocerebellar pathways. Etiology of cerebellar ataxia can be classified based on the onset, progression, location of lesions, based on distribution, hereditary. In Ayurveda by seeing etiology and symptoms can be correlated to shiromarmopaghata. Due to indulgence in vataja ahara and vihar, abhighata does the vata and raktapradushana leading to shiromarmopaghata. In cerebellar ataxia shiromarmopagata Chikitsa can be adopted. Since we donât get direct reference about this disease based on hetu vishesha and sthana vishesha treatment can be adopted
A single case study on the efficacy of Anu Taila Nasya followed by Narasimha Rasayana in Khalithya vis-Ă -vis Androgenic Alopecia
Ayurveda, the indigenous system of medicine offers a number of non-invasive regimens for various disorders affecting a human body. One such common disease is Khalithya. For most people it can just be a common hair fall, though in some cases it can be extreme. It affects approximately 1.7% of world population. It can be correlated to Alopecia in contemporary science, which presents with loss of hair due to a disturbance of hair follicles which had, previously, developed and functioned normally. It is classified into two types as âAlopecia areataâ, which is patchy hair loss and âDiffuse alopeciaâ, generalized hair loss. Alopecia is diffuse if it affects the scalp in a general distribution. Diffuse alopecia is common, affecting up-to 50% of men and women. While it can affect both the sexes at any age, women present more frequently than men. The classical description about Khalithya reveals the involvement of Tridosha i.e., Pitta, Vata, Kapha along with Rakta as the chief pathological causes. Although the disease does not produce serious side effects except cosmetic problem, it interferes with the self-confidence and social acceptance of the individual. A case of 16years old female patient, who came with the complaint of severe generalized hairfall over the scalp was taken up for the research work. As Nasya is a prime therapy in all Jatrurdhva diseases, Anutaila-Marsha-Nasya, indicated in Khalithya had been done followed by Narasimha Rasayana internally. Significant improvement was seen in both subjective and objective parameters at the end of follow-up period
Physio-Pathological understanding of Aartavavaha Srotas
In Ayurveda, the concept of Srotas has been propagated very specifically. Srotas have a significant role in maintenance of equilibrium of body elements. Among types of Srotas, Aartavavaha Srotas is given prime importance which is only present in females. Aartavavaha Srotas are the channels which carry Aartava. Aartava can be considered as Bijarupia Aartava and Drusta Aartava i.e. ovum and menstrual blood respectively. The root of Artavavaha Srotas are Garbhashaya (Uterus) and Artavavaha Dhamani (vessels carrying Artava). Garbhashaya can be compare with uterus, that help for development of fetus. Dhamani can be compared with arteries i.e. ovarian arteries responsible for formation of Aartava (ovum) and Uterine arteries responsible for flow of Aartava (menstrual blood). Pathological changes occurs in the body due to Sroto Dushti, Sroto Sanga etc. so if any Viddha (injury) occurs to Aartava Vaha Srotas that leads to Viddha Lakshana i.e. Vandhyatwa, Maithunaasahishnutaa, Aartava Naasha
Sudden Generalized Weakness and Giddiness after administration of Lekhana Basti â An Unintended Drug Reaction (ADR)
It is common belief in Indians that herbal drugs or Ayurveda medicines are always 100% safe and doesnât produce any of the adverse effects but which is not always true, well this is shown by our case report where the adverse effect were seen in the form of generalized weakness and giddiness. A South Indian Male patient of age 45 years who was resident of Belgaum for 10 years. Patient consulted us for the complaints of sudden weight gain with the associated complaints like heaviness of body, laziness etc. Giddiness and generalized weakness disappeared when dose of Lekhanabasti was reduced. Direct relation (score 6) were the causality according to Naranjo's Adverse Drug Reaction Probability Scale. This report highlights the importance of Preassessment and awareness towards the careful use of Ayurveda medicines like that of contemporary medications
Study on Segmentation and Global Motion Estimation in Object Tracking Based on Compressed Domain
Object tracking is an interesting and needed procedure for many real time applications. But it is a challenging one, because of the presence of challenging sequences with abrupt motion occlusion, cluttered background and also the camera shake. In many video processing systems, the presence of moving objects limits the accuracy of Global Motion Estimation (GME). On the other hand, the inaccuracy of global motion parameter estimates affects the performance of motion segmentation. In the proposed method, we introduce a procedure for simultaneous object segmentation and GME from block-based motion vector (MV) field, motion vector is refined firstly by spatial and temporal correlation of motion and initial segmentation is produced by using the motion vector difference after global motion estimation
Relationship Between Demographic Variables and Job Outcomes of Clinical Nurses in NABH Accredited Hospitals
One of the most important and much-needed services in patient care is nursing. Managing an employee in the hospital industry is difficult, and addressing their requirements is critical. Nurses are crucial in ensuring that the requirements of patients are satisfied. Nurses and the organization's goals both benefit from increased job satisfaction. In this study, clinical nurses working in NABH-accredited hospitals in Tamil Nadu are examined to see how demographic factors such as age, years of service, and designation affect outcomes such as job satisfaction, involvement in the workplace, organisational commitment (attitude), job stress (psychological), and turnover intention (behavioural)
Mobile Apps and Sustainable Development of Voluntary Organizations
ICT support in voluntary organizations is an interesting emergent field of research. The voluntary organizations are aware about the use of technology in their activities but the complexity of technologies, lack of technological knowledge, lack of funds and lack of standards are big obstacles. There is a need to transform the operation and structure of these organizations, as the roles and functions of voluntary organizations have significantly expanded in recent years. The current research objective is to investigate the current scenario of the implementation of ICT by the voluntary organizations. The objectives of the study were to study the usage of ICT, impact of ICT and satisfaction level of ICT in voluntary organizations, also to study the issues and challenges they are facing. The study was conducted in and around Pune. Questionnaires were managed to various voluntary organizations and the results of this are analyzed. Based on the investigation, recommendations are made and mobile application using open source technologies is suggested
