Microstructural Characterization of Graphite Spheroids in Ductile Iron
The present work brings new insights by transmission electron microscopy allowing disregarding or supporting some of the models proposed for spheroidal growth of graphite in cast irons. Nodules consist of sectors made of graphite plates elongated along a hai direction and stack on each other with their c axis aligned with the radial direction. These plates are the elementary units for spheroidal growth and a calculation supports the idea that new units continuously nucleate at the ledge between sectors
Enhanced Support for High Intensity Users of the Criminal Justice System â an evaluation of mental health nurse input into Integrated Offender Management Services in the North East of England
The current UK Governmentâs focus on the development of services to manage and support offenders with mental health problems has resulted in a number of innovative project developments. This research examines a service development in the North East of England which co-located Mental Health nurses with two Integrated Offender Management teams. While not solving all problems, the benefits of co-location were clear â although such innovations are now at risk from government changes which will make Integrated Offender Management the responsibility of new providers without compelling them to co-operate with health services
Skeletal responses to an all-female unassisted Antarctic traverse
Purpose: To investigate the skeletal effects of the first all-female trans-Antarctic traverse. Methods: Six women (mean ± SD, age 32 ±3 years, height 1.72 ± 0.07m, body mass 72.8 ± 4.0kg) hauled 80kg sledges over 1700km in 61days from coast-to-coast across the Antarctic. Whole-body areal bone mineral density (aBMD) (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) and tibial volumetric BMD (vBMD), geometry, microarchitecture and estimated mechanical properties (high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography) were assessed 39 days before (pre-expedition) and 15 days after the expedition (post-expedition). Serum and plasma markers of bone turnover were assessed pre-expedition, and 4 and 15 days after the expedition. Results: There were reductions in trunk (â2.6%), ribs (â5.0%) and spine (â3.4%) a BMD from pre-to post-expedition (all Pâ€0.046); arms, legs, pelvis and total body a BMD were not different (all Pâ„0.075). Tibial v BMD, geometry, microarchitecture and estimated mechanical properties at the metaphysis (4% site) and diaphysis (30% site) were not different between pre-and post-expedition (all Pâ„0.082). Bone-specific alkaline phosphatase was higher 15days post-than 4 days post-expedition (1.7 ÎŒgâlâ â1, P=0.028). Total 25(OH) D decreased from pre-to 4 dayspost expedition (â36nmolâlâ â1,P=0.008).Sclerostin,procollagen1N-terminal propeptide, C-telopeptide cross-links of type 1 collagen and adjusted calcium were unchanged (allPâ„0.154). Conclusion: Adecline in a BMD of the axial skeleton maybe due to indirect and direct effects of prolonged energy deficit. We propose that weight-bearing exercise was protective against the effects of energy deficit on tibial v BMD, geometry, microarchitecture and strength

1. Start to collect additional information required to determine the spatial and temporal extent of migrating whales and how this overlaps with commercial fishing gear.
2. Examine the effectiveness of potential gear modifications to the float rigs of fishing pots/traps to reduce their likelihood of entangling whales
Experimental Status of Neutrino Physics
After a fascinating phase of discoveries, neutrino physics still has a few
mysteries such as the absolute mass scale, the mass hierarchy, the existence of
CP violation in the lepton sector and the existence of right-handed neutrinos.
It is also entering a phase of precision measurements. This is what motivates
the NUFACT 11 conference which prepares the future of long baseline neutrino
experiments. In this paper, we report the status of experimental neutrino
physics. We focus mainly on absolute mass measurements, oscillation parameters
and future plans for oscillation experiments

Inversion of Randomly Corrugated Surfaces Structure from Atom Scattering Data
The Sudden Approximation is applied to invert structural data on randomly
corrugated surfaces from inert atom scattering intensities. Several expressions
relating experimental observables to surface statistical features are derived.
The results suggest that atom (and in particular He) scattering can be used

Improved description of charged Higgs boson production at hadron colliders
We present a new method for matching the two twin-processes gb->H+/-t and
gg->H+/-tb in Monte Carlo event generators. The matching is done by defining a
double-counting term, which is used to generate events that are subtracted from
the sum of these two twin-processes. In this way we get a smooth transition
between the collinear region of phase space, which is best described by
gb->H+/-t, and the hard region, which requires the use of the gg->H+/-tb
process. The resulting differential distributions show large differences
compared to both the gb-> H+/-t and gg->H+/-tb processes illustrating the
