Sensitivity of Cross Sections for Elastic Nucleus-Nucleus Scattering to Halo Nucleus Density Distributions

In order to clear up the sensitivity of the nucleus-nucleus scattering to the nuclear matter distributions of exotic halo nuclei, we have calculated differential cross sections for elastic scattering of the 6^6He and 11^{11}Li nuclei on several nuclear targets at the energy of 0.8 GeV/nucleon with different assumed nuclear density distributions in 6^6He and 11^{11}Li.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures. Effect of lithium borate coating on the electrochemical properties of LiCoO2 electrode for lithium-ion batteries

The effect of a protective coating of fused lithium borate, Li3BO3, on the physicochemical and electrochemical characteristics of LiCoO2 has been studied. A cathode material produced by the SCS method using binary organic fuel, glycine and citric acid. The influence of the experiment conditions on the morphology, crystal structure and specific surface of lithium cobaltite was studied. Electrochemical testing of LiCoO2∙nLi3BO3 samples, n = 5 and 7 mass %, has been performed in the cathode Li|Li+-electrolyte|LiCoO2∙nLi3BO3 half-cell using 1M LiPF6 in EC/DMC mixture (1:1) as electrolyte in the 2.7-4.3 V range at normalized discharge current С/10, С/5, С/2. The maximal initial discharge capacity of 185 mAh/g was detected for the samples with 5 mass % Li3BO3. The coulomb efficiency of optimal materials in the 40th cycle was 99.1%

Final-state interactions in the response of nuclear matter

    Get PDF
Final-state interactions in the response of a many-body system to an external probe delivering large momentum are normally described using the eikonal approximation, for the trajectory of the struck particle, and the frozen approximation, for the positions of the spectators. We propose a generalization of this scheme, in which the initial momentum of the struck particle is explicitly taken into account. Numerical calculations of the nuclear matter response at 1 <q<< |{\bf q}| < 2 GeV/c show that the inclusion of this momentum dependence leads to a sizable effect in the low energy tail. Possible implications for the analysis of existing electron-nucleus scattering data are discussed.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figure

    Correlation Effects in Nuclear Transparency

    Get PDF
The Glauber approximation is used to calculate the contribution of nucleon correlations in high-energy A(e,eN)A(e,e'N) reactions. When the excitation energy of the residual nucleus is small, the increase of the nuclear transparency due to correlations between the struck nucleon and the other nucleons is mostly compensated by a decrease of the transparency due to the correlations between non detected nucleons. We derive Glauber model predictions for nuclear transparency for the differential cross section when nuclear shell level excitations are measured. The role of correlations in color transparency is briefly discussed.Comment: 24 pages revtex, 4 uuencoded PostScript Figures as separate fil

A Search for Light Super Symmetric Baryons

    Get PDF
We have searched for the production and decay of light super-symmetric baryons produced in 800 GeV/c proton copper interactions in a charged hyperon beam experiment. We observe no evidence for the decays R+(uud \g^~) -> S(uds \g^~) pi+ and X-(ssd \g^~) -> S(uds \g^~) pi- in the predicted parent mass and lifetime ranges of 1700-2500 Mev/c2 and 50-500 ps. Production upper limits for R+ at xF=0.47, Pt=1.4 GeV/c2 and X- at xF=0.48, Pt=0.65 GeV/c2 of less than 10^-3 of all charged secondary particles produced are obtained for all but the highest masses and shortest lifetimes predicted.Comment: 9 pages, uuencoded postscript 4 figures uuencoded, tar-compressed file (submitted to PRL
