    Design of Mobile Manipulator for Fire Extinguisher Testing. Part I Key Specifications and Conceptual Design

    All flames are extinguished as early as possible, or fire services have to deal with major conflagrations. This leads to the fact that the quality of fire extinguishers has become a very sensitive and important issue in firefighting. Inspired by the development of automatic fire fighting systems, this paper proposes key specifications based on the standard of fire extinguishers that is ISO 7165:2009 and ISO 11601:2008, and feasible solutions to design a mobile manipulator for automatically evaluating the quality or, more specifically, power of fire extinguishers.     Improving SERS Sensing Efficiency and Catalytic Reduction Activity in Multifunctional Ternary Ag-TiO2-GO Nanostructures: Roles of Electron Transfer Process on Performance Enhancement

    Multifunctional nanocomposites have received great attention for years; electron transfer (ET) is considered as an explanatory mechanism for enhancement of performance of these nanostructures. The existence of this ET process has been proved in many studies using either experimental or computational approaches. In this study, a ternary nanocomposite system of Ag/TiO2/GO was prepared to evaluate the performance enhancement in two experimental models: a physical model (i.e., surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor) and a chemical one (i.e., catalytic reduction reaction). The metal/semiconductor heterojunction between Ag and TiO2, as well as Ti-O-C bonds, has allowed plasmonic hot electrons to be transferred in the internal structure of the material. An investigation on the role of Ag content on the SERS sensing and catalytic reduction efficiency of Ag/TiO2/GO was performed in both models. Interestingly, they all resulted in the same optimal Ag content of 50 wt%. It was then further discussed to provide a convincing evidence for the plasmon-induced electron transfer phenomena in the Ag/TiO2/GO nanostructure. These findings also suggest a pathway to design and develop high-performance, cost-effective, facile-preparation, and eco-friendly multifunctional nanostructures for detecting and removing contaminants in environment

    Ho chicken breed: Morpho-biometric characteristics and Economic efficiency of production

    peer reviewedIn order to evaluate the economic efficiency and production status of Ho chicken, this survey was carried out on 34 households raising Ho chickens in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, from December 2012 to April 2013. Morpho-biometric characteristics were measured on 181 individuals (46 cocks and 135 hens) according to FAO standards. The results show that Ho chicken herd size is very limited, with 30.78 chickens per household. Average age at the first laying is rather late (7.42 months) with 11.97 eggs in a laying cycle and 76.32% of hatchability rate. These numbers are low because Ho chickens are heavy and clumsy, and therefore could easily step on and break their eggs. The body weight of a cock is 3.79 kg at 9 months while the hen weight is 2.63kg at 12 months. The body length, neck length, back length, thigh length of cock are significantly higher than those of hens (P<0.05). Production of these chickens does not require much initial investment costs. In these costs, buy breed and chicken housing are the most important in the fixed costs. The average annual expense to operate Ho chicken production reaches 12.16 million VND (565.58 USD) while the average annual revenue is 30.85 million VND (1443 USD)

    High prevalence of maternal mosaic monosomy X in pregnant women in Vietnam

    To demonstrate the prevalence of maternal mosaic monosomy X (MMXO) in a cohort of pregnant women in Vietnam. All 105,594 singleton pregnant women undergoing noninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS) between January 2019 and February 2021 in Vietnam were analyzed by measuring discordance between size- and count-based z-scores for chromosome X (ChrX) to identify suspected cases of MMXO and validated by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on maternal blood. We identified 295 (0.279%) suspected MMXO cases. After FISH analysis, MMXO was confirmed in 125 cases (42.37%), revealing the MMXO prevalence of 0.118% (95% CI: 0.097–0.139%) in this cohort. We found a relatively high prevalence of MMXO in Vietnamese pregnant women and demonstrated a strong influence of MMXO on the ChrX z-score using a count-based method, resulting in false positives. The size-based method is not sensitive to MMXO and therefore achieves higher PPV.</p
