What kinds of coordinate can keep the Hawking temperature invariant for the static spherically symmetric black hole?
By studying the Hawking radiation of the most general static spherically
symmetric black hole arising from scalar and Dirac particles tunnelling, we
find the Hawking temperature is invariant in the general coordinate
representation (\ref{arbitrary1}), which satisfies two conditions: a) its
radial coordinate transformation is regular at the event horizon; and b) there
is a time-like Killing vector.Comment: 10 page
Pharmacokinetics of recombinant human erythropoietin applied subcutaneously to children with chronic renal failure
The single-dose pharmacokinetics of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) given SC was investigated in 20 patients aged 7-20 years at different stages of chronic renal failure. In a pilot study we confirmed the lower bioavailability of the drug in 2 children when given SC compared with the IV route (24% and 43%, respectively). Following administration of 4,000 units/m2, rHuEPO SC effective serum erythropoietin concentrations increased from a mean baseline level (+/- SD) of 23 +/- 13 units/l to a mean peak concentration of 265 +/- 123 units/l, which was reached after 14.3 +/- 9.4 h, followed by a slow decline until baseline values were attained at 72 h. Mean residence time was 30 +/- 9 h and mean elimination half-time 14.3 +/- 7 h. The single-dose kinetics of SC rHuEPO in children with different degrees of renal failure are comparable to those in adult patients. Possibly, the higher efficacy of SC rHuEPO in patients with renal anaemia compared with IV rHuEPO is related to its prolonged action
Direct observation of particle-hole mixing in the superconducting state by angle-resolved photoemission
Particle-hole (p-h) mixing is a fundamental consequence of the existence of a
pair condensate. We present direct experimental evidence for p-h mixing in the
angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) spectra in the superconducting state of
Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta}. In addition to its pedagogical importance, this
establishes unambiguously that the gap observed in ARPES is associated with

Evolution of the Fermi surface with carrier concentration in Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta}
We show, by use of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, that underdoped
Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta} appears to have a large Fermi surface centered at
(\pi,\pi), even for samples with a T_c as low as 15 K. No clear evidence of a
Fermi surface pocket around (\pi/2,\pi/2) has been found. These conclusions are
based on a determination of the minimum gap locus in the pseudogap regime T_c <
T < T^*, which is found to coincide with the locus of gapless excitations in
momentum space (Fermi surface) determined above T^*. These results suggest that
the pseudogap is more likely of precursor pairing rather than magnetic origin.Comment: 4 pages, revtex, 4 postscript color figure
Broken time-reversal symmetry in Josephson junction involving two-band superconductors
A novel time-reversal symmetry breaking state is found theoretically in the
Josephson junction between the two-gap superconductor and the conventional
s-wave superconductor. This occurs due to the frustration between the three
order parameters analogous to the two antiferromagnetically coupled XY-spins
put under a magnetic field. This leads to the interface states with the
energies inside the superconducting gap. Possible experimental observations of
this state with broken time-reversal symmetry are discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur
