Is the public interest served by risk pooling? : an honors thesis (HONRS 499)

This discussion of risk pooling, with a concentration in worker's compensation, is designed to provide a better understanding of pools and their impact on society and the insurance industry. The discussion includes an overview of worker's compensation insurance and an explanation of risk pooling. It also includes research from individual states regarding reasons for formation of pools as well as advantages and disadvantages of pools. Finally, the discussion includes a study of a proposal before the Indiana General Assembly to set up a worker's compensation pool in Indiana as well as an example of an insolvent pool in Colorado.Honors CollegeThesis (B.?.
