Quantum spectrum as a time series : Fluctuation measures

The fluctuations in the quantum spectrum could be treated like a time series. In this framework, we explore the statistical self-similarity in the quantum spectrum using the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and random matrix theory (RMT). We calculate the Hausdorff measure for the spectra of atoms and Gaussian ensembles and study their self-affine properties. We show that DFA is equivalent to Δ3\Delta_3 statistics of RMT, unifying two different approaches. We exploit this connection to obtain theoretical estimates for the Hausdorff measure.Comment: 4+ pages. 2 figure

Menaquinone-7: Wide Ranging Physiological Relevance in Muscle and Nerve Health

    Get PDF
Menaquinone-7 plays a significant role in cardiovascular and bone health. In recent times there is a growing interest in understanding the role of Menaquinone-7 in health and diseases. Several population-based studies have reported specific health effects of the long-chain menaquinones, notably MK-7, MK-8, and MK-9. There are several epidemiological studies, clinical trials, along with in vivo and in vitro studies confirming the role of Menaquinone-7 in health and diseases. More recently, research group at Synergia Life Sciences has discovered a wider role for Menaquinone-7 in energy homeostasis (VO2max), peripheral neuropathy, muscle cramps and mitochondrial respiration not only through improvement of the electron transport but also the perfusion improving oxygen availability. In the current chapter, the authors have discussed the wider physiological role of Menaquinone-7 highlighting the recent research with Menaquinone-7 in the areas of Muscle and Nerve Health

Bacillus subtilis HU58 and Bacillus coagulans SC208 probiotics reduced the effects of antibiotic-induced gut microbiome dysbiosis in an M-SHIME® model

Benefits associated with probiotic use have been reported; however, the mechanisms behind these benefits are poorly understood. The effects of a probiotic formulation (MegaDuo (TM)) containingBacillus coagulansSC208 andBacillus subtilisHU58 on intestinal permeability and immune markers was assessed using a combination of the in vitro gut model, the mucosal simulator of the human intestinal microbial ecosystem (M-SHIME(R)), and an in vitro inflammatory bowel disease-like Caco-2/THP1 co-culture model in both healthy and antibiotic-induced dysbiosis conditions. Established M-SHIME(R)proximal colon vessels were treated with/without clindamycin (1 week) and then with/without daily MegaDuo (TM) treatment (2 weeks). The mucosal and luminal microbial communities were sampled weekly. Suspensions were removed from the proximal colon vessels after 1 and 2 weeks of MegaDuo (TM) treatment and added to the co-culture system. Transepithelial resistance (membrane barrier function), cytokine/chemokine release, and NF kappa B activity were then measured. Under conditions of antibiotic-induced dysbiosis, suspensions from MegaDuo (TM) treated vessels showed reduced gut membrane barrier damage and decreased levels of TNF alpha and IL-6 compared with suspensions from untreated vessels; no appreciable differences were observed under healthy conditions. MegaDuo (TM) treatment had no effect on NF kappa B activity of THP1-Blue (TM) cells. The potential benefits of MegaDuo (TM) treatment appeared most evident after 2 weeks of treatment
