Social Identity and Social Exchange: Identification, Support, and Withdrawal from the Job
Integrating insights from the social exchange perspective and the social identity perspective on the psychological relationship between the individual and the organization, we propose that evaluations of the support received from the organization and its representatives, and organizational identification interact in predicting withdrawal from the job. Specifically, the relationship of support with withdrawal is proposed to be weaker the stronger employees identify with the organization. This prediction was confirmed in two samples focusing on different operationalizations of support and withdrawal. Sample 1 concerned the interaction of organizational support and organizational identification in predicting turnover intentions, Sample 2 concerned the prediction of absenteeism from supervisor support and organizational identification. We conclude that the present study yields promising first evidence that may lay the basis for further integration of social exchange and social identity analyses of organizational behavior.Organizational behavior;Organizational identification;Organizational support;Social identity
Curvature corrections in DGP brane cosmology
We consider a DGP inspired brane scenario where the action on the brane is
augmented by a function of the Ricci scalar, . The cosmological
implications that such a scenario entails are examined for and shown to
be consistent with a universe expanding with power-law acceleration. It is
shown that two classes of solutions exist for the usual FRW metric and small
Hubble radii. When the Hubble radius becomes larger, we either have a
transition to a fully 5D regime or to a self-inflationary solution which
produces a late accelerated expansion such that the radius becomes a function

Conformal entropy for generalised gravity theories as a consequence of horizon properties
We show that microscopic entropy formula based on Virasoro algebra follows
from properties of stationary Killing horizons for Lagrangians with arbitrary
dependence on Riemann tensor. The properties used are consequence of regularity
of invariants of Riemann tensor on the horizon. Eventual generalisation of
these results to Lagrangians with derivatives of Riemann tensor, as suggested
by an example treated in the paper, relies on assuming regularity of invariants
involving derivatives of Riemann tensor. This assumption however leads also to

Dimensional Effects on Densities of States and Interactions in Nanostructures
We consider electrons in the presence of interfaces with different effective electron mass, and electromagnetic fields in the presence of a high-permittivity interface in bulk material. The equations of motion for these dimensionally hybrid systems yield analytic expressions for Greenâs functions and electromagnetic potentials that interpolate between the two-dimensional logarithmic potential at short distance, and the three-dimensional râ1 potential at large distance. This also yields results for electron densities of states which interpolate between the well-known two-dimensional and three-dimensional formulas. The transition length scales for interfaces of thickness L are found to be of order Lm/2m* for an interface in which electrons move with effective mass m*, and for a dielectric thin film with permittivity in a bulk of permittivity . We can easily test the merits of the formalism by comparing the calculated electromagnetic potential with the infinite series solutions from image charges. This confirms that the dimensionally hybrid models are excellent approximations for distances r âł L/2
Brans-Dicke DGP Brane Cosmology
We consider a five dimensional DGP-brane scenario endowed with a
non-minimally coupled scalar field within the context of Brans-Dicke theory.
This theory predicts that the mass appearing in the gravitational potential is
modified by the addition of the mass of the effective intrinsic curvature on
the brane. We also derive the effective four dimensional field equations on a
3+1 dimensional brane where the fifth dimension is assumed to have an orbifold
symmetry. Finally, we discuss the cosmological implications of this setup,
predicting an accelerated expanding universe with a value of the Brans-Dicke
parameter consistent with values resulting from the solar system

DGP Cosmology with a Non-Minimally Coupled Scalar Field on the Brane
We construct a DGP inspired braneworld scenario where a scalar field
non-minimally coupled to the induced Ricci curvature is present on the brane.
First we investigate the status of gravitational potential with non-minimal
coupling and observational constraints on this non-minimal model. Then we
further deepen the idea of embedding of FRW cosmology in this non-minimal
setup. Cosmological implications of this scenario are examined with details and
the quintessence and late-time expansion of the universe within this framework
are examined. Some observational constraints imposed on this non-minimal
scenario are studied and relation of this model with dark radiation formalism

Integrated Pretrial Attack on a Pleading: A Critical Evaluation of Michigan\u27s New Summary Judgement Rule
Modern procedural reforms reflect diminished confidence in the demurrer or no cause motion as a device to dispose of non-meritorious claims before trial. The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, setting the pattern of reform for many states, abolished the demurrer. Although a preliminary attack upon the legal sufficiency of the complaint is still permitted by a motion to dismiss under Federal Rule 12 (b) (6), the challenged pleading may be amended as a matter of course, to minimize the risk that a good claim might be lost because it was poorly pleaded. The risk that sham amendments might then be used to forestall dismissal of a claim lacking factual support is offset by the motion for summary judgment under Federal Rule 56, which enables the movant to penetrate the formal allegations of the pleading by resort to affidavits, documents, and other extrinsic proof. This shift toward reliance on summary judgment to dispose of unworthy claims was furthered by a 1948 amendment to Federal Rule 12, which provides that a motion to dismiss may be converted into a motion for summary judgment, if matters outside the pleadings are presented to and not excluded by the court
