Anxiety disorders in headache patients in a specialised clinic: prevalence and symptoms in comparison to patients in a general neurological clinic

Data from several studies indicate an association of headache with anxiety disorders. In this study, we assessed and differentiated anxiety disorders in 100 headache patients by using the PSWQ (Penn State Worry Questionnaire) screening tool for generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and the ACQ (Agoraphobic Cognitions Questionnaire) and BSQ (Body Sensation Questionnaire) for panic disorder (PD). Control groups were constructed: (1) on the basis of epidemiological studies on PD and GAD in the general population and (2) by including neurological patients. 37.0% of headache patients had a GAD. 27% of headache patients met the score for PD in the BSQ, 4.0% in the ACQ. Significant results were obtained in comparison to the general population (p < 0.001) and with regard to GAD in comparison with a sample of neurological patients (p < 0.005). The BSQ significantly correlated with the number of medication days (p < 0.005). The results confirm the increased prevalence of GAD in headache patients. PD seems to increase the risk of medication overuse

To provide reference values for the European Organisation for Treatment and Research of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ-C30) in advanced-stage Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) patients and 5-year HL survivors. The QLQ-C30 is the most widely used cancer-specific questionnaire to assess Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). The EORTC database was searched to identify HL RCTs in which patients' and survivors' HRQoL was assessed by the QLQ-C30. HRQoL mean scores were calculated and stratified by age and gender. Minimal important differences were used to assess the clinical relevance of the findings. Data from one RCT with HRQoL scores available at baseline (n = 343) and four RCTs with HRQoL scores available at follow-up (n = 1665) were analysed. Patients reported worse HRQoL scores than survivors across most functioning scales and symptoms' scales. These scores varied as a function of gender but not age. Survivors' HRQoL reports were comparable to the ones of the general population. These values provide an assessment framework for the comparison and interpretation of QLQ-C30 scores in advanced-stage HL. Our findings suggest that although HL patients' HRQoL scores are worse than the general population, HRQoL scores may normalize over long-term survival

Analysis of patient-reported experiences up to 2 years after receiving idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel, bb2121) for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma: Longitudinal findings from the phase 2 KarMMa trial

Objective: To understand the long-term experience of patients receiving ide-cel chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR T) cell therapy for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma in the pivotal phase 2 KarMMa trial. Methods: This qualitative study analyzed semi-structured patient interviews 6-24 months after ide-cel infusion. Thematic analysis with quantitative and longitudinal analyses explored patient perceptions of ide-cel treatment experience, advantages and disadvantages, and long-term health-related quality of life impact. Patient journeys were developed from narrative analysis of perceived treatment benefits with known remission length. Results: Interviews with 45 patients 6-24 months postinfusion were analyzed; all reported >= 1 ide-cel treatment advantage, most often related to efficacy (n = 42/45, 93%), few or no side effects (n = 35/45, 78%), and avoidance of other treatments (n = 34/45, 76%). Patients generally reported 6-month improvements in physical health, functioning, emotional well-being, social life, and outlook on the future; these improvements mostly remained stable through 18 and 24 months. The most common patient journeys comprised physical, func-tioning, or emotional benefit with remission < 2 years. Conclusions: Longitudinal analysis of patient experiences showed sustained benefits and preference for ide-cel up to 24 months after treatment.Trial Registration Number and Date: NCT03361748.
