In large-scale wind turbines, the force state of the pitch system greatly influences safe operation and service life. This paper provides a novel method to estimate blade pitch load, bearing friction torque, and motor pitch torque. In this method, the force equilibrium equations are established by investigating the force of the pitch system under multiple operating conditions. The multidimensional BIN method is employed to classify the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) data of wind turbines into several intervals. The multidimensional scatter data is processed in a single-valued way. Then, the estimating model of the pitch system forces is established by combining the obtained data and the equilibrium equations. Taking a 2 MW wind turbine as an example, the variation characteristics of blade pitch load, bearing friction torque, and motor pitch torque under multiple operating conditions are analyzed. Some interesting and valuable conclusions are obtained. For example, when the wind speed increases, the blade pitch load increases significantly in the maximum wind energy tracking region, but there is no obvious change in the observed constant power output region. The wind speed and azimuth have little effect on the bearing friction torque. The variation trend of motor pitch torque is consistent with that of blade pitch load in the maximum wind energy tracking region

The challenges of measuring spin Seebeck noise

Just as electronic shot noise results from the granularity of charge and the statistical variation in the arrival times of carriers in driven conductors, there are predictions for fundamental noise in magnon currents due to angular momentum being carried by discrete excitations. The advent of the inverse spin Hall effect as a transduction mechanism to convert spin current into charge current raises the prospect of experimental investigations of such magnon shot noise. Spin Seebeck effect measurements have demonstrated the electrical detection of thermally driven magnon currents and have been suggested as an avenue for accessing spin current fluctuations. We report measurements of spin Seebeck structures made from yttrium iron garnet on gadolinium gallium garnet. While these measurements do show an increase in measured noise in the presence of a magnetic field at low temperatures, the dependence on field orientation suggests an alternative origin for this signal. We describe theoretical predictions for the expected magnitude of magnon shot noise, highlighting ambiguities that exist. Analysis in terms of the sample geometry dependence of the known inverse spin Hall transduction of spin currents into charge currents implies that magnon shot noise detection through this approach is strongly suppressed. Implications for future attempts to measure magnon shot noise are discussed.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures, + 7 pages/6 figures of supplementary materia

Comparative metabolomics analysis of milk components between Italian Mediterranean buffaloes and Chinese Holstein cows based on LC-MS/MS technology

Buffalo and cow milk have a very different composition in terms of fat, protein, and total solids. For a better knowledge of such a difference, the milk metabolic profiles and characteristics of metabolites was investigated in Italian Mediterranean buffaloes and Chinese Holstein cows were investigated by liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in this study. Totally, 23 differential metabolites were identified to be significantly different in the milk from the two species of which 15 were up-regulated and 8 down-regulated in Italian Mediterranean buffaloes. Metabolic pathway analysis revealed that 4 metabolites (choline, acetylcholine, nicotinamide and uric acid) were significantly enriched in glycerophospholipid metabolism, nicotinate and nicotinamide metabolism, glycine, serine and threonine metabolism, as well as purine metabolism. The results provided further insights for a deep understanding of the potential metabolic mechanisms responsible for the different performance of Italian Mediterranean buffaloes’ and Chinese Holstein cows’ milk. The findings will offer new tools for the improvement and novel directions for the development of dairy industry

Numerical simulation of dynamic response characteristics for launch and recovery system under random irregular wave

Based on the rain-flow counting method, a new random numerical simulation method for evaluating dynamic response characteristics of a launch and recovery system is presented in this study. It takes a random irregular wave as an input, and the random distribution characteristics of the dynamic responses of the launch and recovery system of a seafloor drill is analyzed by using the rain-flow counting method. The nonlinear coupling mechanisms among the movements of the ship, the umbilical cable, and the seafloor drill caused by random irregular wave are investigated. A dynamic model that considers the influence of the seawater resistance on the launch and recovery system of seafloor drill is established. Then, significant wave heights are used to produce excitation of the random irregular wave, and the corresponding dynamic random responses of the launch and recovery system are calculated and analyzed. At the same time, the movement of the seafloor drill and the tension of the umbilical cable are calculated and analyzed for the cases of seafloor drill at different water depths. This method provides a new tool for evaluating the dynamic response characteristics of launch and recovery system of other seafloor equipment under random irregular wave
