    L'OEDEME PULMONAIRE UNILATERAL DE REEXPANSION

    No full text
The authors report three cases of unilateral pulmonary oedema following the re-expansion of a spontaneous pneumothorax. The importance of the duration of the pneumothorax and the use of too negative pressure while re-expanding the lung are both stressed. The different physiopathological hypotheses responsible for the appearance of pulmonary oedema are discussed, notably altered mechanical properties of the lung and alveolar-capillary permeability. The numerous precautions to take to avoid the appearance of oedema, as well as the therapeutic measures to adopt for severe pulmonary oedema are reviewed.SCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Double-blind comparison of the respiratory effects of parenteral lorazepam and diazepam in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease

    No full text
The effects on the respiratory function of two tranquillising drugs, lorazepam and diazepam, have been compared in 20 patients with chronic obstructive lung disease. Both drugs induce a respiratory depression (decrease in tidal volume and minute ventilation with acceleration of the respiratory frequency) with slight respiratory acidosis, but lorazepam causes no significant hypoxemia and has a shorter duration of action than diazepam. Nevertheless, if tranquillisers are indicated in such patients, they have to be used with care. © 1975 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.SCOPUS: ar.jSCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Apport de l'ordinateur couplé à la caméra à scintillations pour l'étude régionale de la fonction pulmonaire avec le xénon 133

    No full text
The authors describe a method of qualitative and quantitative analysis of regional distribution of pulmonary ventilation and perfusion, the originality of which is in the analysis system of the data collected by a scintillation camera, after i.v. injection of Xenon 133. The characteristics of this analysis system are given in detail. The results obtained in a normal subject illustrate the method used.SCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
