Reports were scanned in black and white at a resolution of 600 dots per inch and were converted to text using Adobe Paper Capture Plug-in.The flightless dolichopodid fly being described here was recovered from leaf litter samples collected in native forest on the island of Hawaii, at 5100 ft. on Saddle Road, 19°40132" N latitude and 155°20 130" E longitude in two adjoining kipukas. The average temperature in the kipukas is approximately S0°F and the humidity almost a constant 100%. This report is a part of our work in censusing the Diptera fauna in native forest litter (IBP-ISLAND ECOSYSTEMS IRP, C-1 Biosystematics of Hawaiian Diptera). In reporting this curious fly, we are directing attention to the possible effect of the introduction of predators (predaceous ants) and other factors with regards to wing reduction. A key to stenopterous species of Hawaiian Campsicnemus is also included.Island Ecosystems IRP, U.S. International Biological Progra
