    CHARACTERISTICS OF HIGHLY EFFICIENT FARMS

    Get PDF
A sample of Kansas farms was used to examine the relationship between overall efficiency and farm characteristics. Overall efficiency was significantly related to operator age, farm size, and farm type. Approximately 26.7% of the farms were in the top one-third overall efficiency category for more than half of the sample period.Farm Management,

A Whole-Person Model for Biblical Integration in Business

    Get PDF
This paper presents a whole-person model for doing biblical integration in business with applications in the field of information systems. The proposed model consists of five questions arranged in a circular fashion, starting with the identification of an ethical issue and the secular worldview associated with it. The model then asks, “Who is God?” in the context of the ethical issue. This is followed by the question, “What biblical principles/commands apply?” Then, the model asks for a decision of whether we accept, reject, or redeem the secular worldview. The model then continues the process to bring the question back to “Who is God?”, but this time it asks the question in the light of who God is to me, and what I must change to become more like Him. This model allows the Christian to develop a greater love and respect for God, while arriving at a biblically based answer to an ethical dilemma, and then growing closer to God as life changes are made to conform to the newfound understanding of who God is

Unified adaptive modalities have led to many extensive advances, including 802.11b and random- ized algorithms. Here, authors demonstrate the visualization of red-black trees. In this work we verify that neural networks can be made relational, trainable, and classical

Selection of Web Services Based on Opinion Mining of Free-Text User Reviews

    Get PDF
When multiple web services exist that perform identical tasks, non-functional attributes must be considered in order to choose the best service. Quality-of-service (QoS) attributes are often used to differentiate functionally redundant web services. However, ranking services according to QoS attributes is a complex problem. Additionally, the use of test data to establish those QoS ratings does not always yield accurate results. Therefore, this paper proposes a method that utilizes opinion mining techniques to extract information about the QoS attributes of a web service based on free-text user reviews. This method not only has the advantage of using real-world data rather than test data, but it also ensures that a variety of use cases are tested that would be common in the everyday usage of that service

The Liquidus Temperature for Methanol-Water Mixtures at High Pressure and Low Temperature, with Application to Titan

    Get PDF
Methanol is a potentially important impurity in subsurface oceans on Titan and Enceladus. We report measurements of the freezing of methanol-water samples at pressures up to 350~MPa using a volumetric cell with sapphire windows. For low concentrations of methanol, the liquidus temperature is typically a few degrees below the corresponding ice freezing point, while at high concentrations it follows the pure methanol trend. In the Ice-III regime, we observe several long-lived metastable states. The results suggest that methanol is a more effective antifreeze than previously estimated, and might have played an important role in the development of Titan's subsurface ocean

Creating a Repository for the Design and Delivery of Web Services

    Get PDF
Existing web service repositories are not well suited to handle the multi-layered representation of web services, nor are they able to support multiple development methodologies. We describe the design and development of a repository called Web Service Crawler that supports both a traditional development methodology for the initial design of services, and an agile approach for the design of composite applications. Web Service Crawler is developed based on a set of theory-based design characteristics, and includes novel facets to represent multi-layered web services, such as workflow, composition, and layer. The positive evaluation results indicate that Web Service Crawler can be used to guide web service designers, as well as enable consumers to more easily find and use services

Pengaruh Jamu Dengan Tribulus Terrestris Terhadap Kualitas Sperma Tikus Wistar Jantan (Rattus Norvegicus)

: It is known that Tribulus terrestris can improve sperm quality. One of the Indonesian traditional medicine, jamu, contains this Tribulus terrestris. This study aimed to investigate the effect of jamu containing Tribulus terrestris on sperm quality which consisted of concentration, motility, and morphology of spermatozoa of male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). This was an experimental study. Nine male wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups of 3 rats each: Group P0 (control), group P1 (given 5 mg of Tribulus terrestris), and group P2 (given 10 mg of Tribulus terrestris). This study was conducted for 52 days. The results showed that the spermatozoa concentration of P1 was 49x106 sperm/ml suspension and of P2 53x106 sperm/ml suspension; both were lower than of P0 (59x106 sperm/ml suspension). The sperm motility category (A+B) of P1 was 33% and of P2 (37%); both were lower than of P0 (45%). The motility category A was not found in P1 and P2. The percentage of spermatozoa with normal morphology of P1 was 45% and the abnormal ones was 55%, meanwhile in P2 there was 49% of normal sperm morphology and 51% of abnormal morphology. Conclusion: Jamu containing Tribulus terrestris had no effect in improvement of the sperm quality

Critical Conversations: Developing White Teachers for Diverse Classrooms

Many White, middle-class educators experience challenges as they attempt to teach in racially diverse classrooms. This article explores and challenges a widely held and often unexamined conception of White in-service teachers as learners about issues of diversity and equity vis-Ă -vis voluntary professional development. This study sought to examine how White in-service teachers explore their racial identity and how identity awareness influences their ability to successfully meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students. Participants were part of a voluntary book discussion professional-development program offered by a community multicultural center in collaboration with surrounding school districts. The findings of a need for localizing change and engaging in a journey towards equity suggest a need for critical dialogue allowing White in-service teachers to recognize themselves as racial beings. The study results indicate for a need for focused professional development addressing cultural competency in the changing cultural climate of public schools
