A reversible oxygen redox reaction in bulk-type all-solid-state batteries
An all-solid-state lithium battery using inorganic solid electrolytes requires safety assurance and improved energy density, both of which are issues in large-scale applications of lithium-ion batteries. Utilization of high-capacity lithium-excess electrode materials is effective for the further increase in energy density. However, they have never been applied to all-solid-state batteries. Operational difficulty of all-solid-state batteries using them generally lies in the construction of the electrode-electrolyte interface. By the amorphization of Li₂RuO₃ as a lithium-excess model material with Li₂SO₄, here, we have first demonstrated a reversible oxygen redox reaction in all-solid-state batteries. Amorphous nature of the Li₂RuO₃-Li₂SO₄ matrix enables inclusion of active material with high conductivity and ductility for achieving favorable interfaces with charge transfer capabilities, leading to the stable operation of all-solid-state batteries

この方法で、高等教育改革の現場を研究した。生涯学習社会の到来を受けて、日本の高等教育は現在第
2 次世界大戦直後以来の改革期にある。すなわち、「知識」より「生涯学習能力」の獲得を志向した、
自発性を尊重するような様々な取り組みがなされ始めている。この高等教育の現場に対し、ワークプレ
ース研究を行った。B大学工学部都市工学演習α班を分析対象とした調査の結果、①演習の課題解釈に
は「従来の指標の相対化の要求の程度」を巡って2つの解釈があり得たこと、②班内にはその2種類の
解釈に対応した葛藤・対立的相互行為が存在したこと、③にもかかわらず、班内葛藤を生きる当事者が
ともに専門性(「都市工学」)を志向していたこと、④したがって、課題理解のいかんにかかわらず、
班活動の全体が「都市工学演習」と呼び得るものになっていたこと、⑤その一方で、最終審査会場(ジ
ュリー)ではこの2重性が十分レリバントなものとして浮かび上がって来ていなかったこと、これらの
ことがわかった。諸結果を総合すると、学生の自主的活動を尊重するタイプの、新しい学習方法の吟味・
評価のためには、学生によるその方法の実践状況の分析が有意義であるだろうこと、また、それは、場
合によっては教員の評価のパラダイムを変える力を持つだろうことなどが予測された。なお、本報告は、

Virological characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2.75 variant
SARS-CoV-2オミクロンBA.2.75株(通称ケンタウロス)のウイルス学的性状の解明. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2022-10-12.The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2.75 variant emerged in May 2022. BA.2.75 is a BA.2 descendant but is phylogenetically distinct from BA.5, the currently predominant BA.2 descendant. Here, we show that BA.2.75 has a greater effective reproduction number and different immunogenicity profile than BA.5. We determined the sensitivity of BA.2.75 to vaccinee and convalescent sera as well as a panel of clinically available antiviral drugs and antibodies. Antiviral drugs largely retained potency but antibody sensitivity varied depending on several key BA.2.75-specific substitutions. The BA.2.75 spike exhibited a profoundly higher affinity for its human receptor, ACE2. Additionally, the fusogenicity, growth efficiency in human alveolar epithelial cells, and intrinsic pathogenicity in hamsters of BA.2.75 were greater than those of BA.2. Our multilevel investigations suggest that BA.2.75 acquired virological properties independent of BA.5, and the potential risk of BA.2.75 to global health is greater than that of BA.5
The indication of palliative whole-brain radiotherapy for patients with brain metastases: a simple prognostic scoring system in the era of stereotactic radiosurgery
Abstract Background Stereotactic irradiation has become the mainstay treatment for brain metastases (BM), and whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) is often used for symptom palliation. However, the survival time of patients with BM undergoing palliative WBRT (pWBRT) is limited, making it difficult to select patients who should receive treatment. Methods We collected patient data from 2016 to 2022 at the Shizuoka Cancer Center and retrospectively analyzed the factors related to survival time. Overall survival (OS) was defined as the survival time after WBRT. Results A total of 301 patients (median age, 66 years) who underwent pWBRT were included. The primary cancers were lung, breast, gastrointestinal tract, and other cancers in 203 (67%), 38 (13%), 33 (11%), and 27 (9%) patients, respectively. Median OS of all patients was 4.1 months. In the multivariate analysis, male sex (hazard ratio [HR]:1.4), Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) ≤ 60 (HR:1.7), presence of extracranial metastasis (ECM) (HR:1.6), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) ≥ 5 (HR:1.6), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) ≥ upper limit of normal (ULN) (HR:1.3) were significantly associated with shorter OS (all P < 0.05). To predict the OS, we created a prognostic scoring system (PSS). We gave one point to each independent prognostic factor. Median OS for patients with scores of 0–2, 3, and 4–5 were 9.0, 3.5 and 1.7 months, respectively (P < 0.001). Conclusions Male sex, KPS ≤ 60, presence of ECM, NLR ≥ 5, and LDH ≥ ULN were poor prognostic factors for patients with BM undergoing pWBRT.
