DEVELOPING REALISTIC AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION FUNCTIONS FOR USE IN UNDERGRADUATE CLASSES
This note describes an approach for teaching undergraduate students basic properties of cost and production functions with the aid of computer-generated illustrations. Parameters of a third degree polynomial are derived by making use of both the theoretical restrictions and the specific agricultural production process. The function is then used as the basis for the development of a simple computer graphics program which generates illustrations of the corresponding MPP, AC, and MC functions. Such illustrations can be used to make technically accurate visual aids.Teaching/Communication/Extension/Profession,

Determinants of Youth Poverty: A Zip Code Analysis
Estimation of Gini coefficients for various age groups indicates that Kentucky youth population is at risk. The paper determines the factors affecting youth poverty, employing Zip Code data. Analysis of outcomes provides suggestions for the policymakers to limit youth poverty in Kentucky.youth, poverty, Zip Code, gini coefficient, lorenz curve, logit model, Food Security and Poverty, I32, I39, R11,
Economics of Food and Agriculture
This is a heavily‐revised version of an introductory agricultural economics textbook, Economics of Food and Agriculture, that was originally published by Kendall Hunt in 1990. The material is intended for use as a series of classroom presentations for an introductory agricultural economics course. No mathematics prerequisites other than basic algebra are required.https://uknowledge.uky.edu/agecon_textbooks/1003/thumbnail.jp
IS IT FEASIBLE TO DEVELOP AN AGRIBUSINESS SELLING PRECISION FARMING SERVICES TO FARMERS?
With the introduction of Variable-Rate Technology, farmers have the capability to decrease input costs, increase output or both. Not all farmers can justify purchasing the equipment, therefore relying on agribusiness firms to provide precision farming services. This study was conducted to determine the feasibility of operating such an agribusiness.Agribusiness,
