Borderplex Population Modeling
Although numerous studies have examined international migratory flows from Mexico to the United States, none have previously done so at the metropolitan level. This study utilizes time series data to econometrically model population change for El Paso, Texas, USA and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, including net domestioc and net international migration for both cities. Results obtained indicate that such an approach may be applicable to other border city pairs elsewhere.Border region, population, migration, applied econometrics
An SUSY GUT of flavour in 6d
We propose a 6d model with a SUSY gauge symmetry. After
compactification, it explains the origin of the Family Symmetry with CSD3
vacuum alignment, as well as breaking with doublet-triplet splitting.
The model naturally accounts for all quark and lepton (including neutrino)
masses and mixings, incorporating the highly predictive Littlest Seesaw
structure. It spontaneously breaks CP symmetry, resulting in successful CP
violation in the quark and lepton sectors, while solving the Strong CP problem.
It also explains the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) through
leptogenesis, with the leptogenesis phase directly linked to the Dirac and
Majorana phases.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figures. v3: Version published in JHE
Grand Unified Theory of Flavour and Leptogenesis
We propose a Grand Unified Theory of Flavour, based on together with
a non-Abelian discrete group , under which the unified three quark and
lepton 16-plets are unified into a single triplet . The model involves a
further discrete group which controls
the Higgs and flavon symmetry breaking sectors. The CSD2 flavon vacuum
alignment is discussed, along with the GUT breaking potential and the
doublet-triplet splitting, and proton decay is shown to be under control. The
Yukawa matrices are derived in detail, from renormalisable diagrams, and
neutrino masses emerge from the type I seesaw mechanism. A full numerical fit
is performed with 15 input parameters generating 19 presently constrained
observables, taking into account supersymmetry threshold corrections. The model
predicts a normal neutrino mass ordering with a CP oscillation phase of
, an atmospheric angle in the first octant and neutrinoless double
beta decay with meV. We discuss leptogenesis, which
fixes the second right-handed neutrino mass to be
GeV, in the natural range predicted by the model.Comment: 26 pages, 10 figure
Systems Engineering Approach to Developing a Successful Business
Starting a business is never an easy task. Every entrepreneur wants a successful business at the end of a project, with success measured by how wen the business satisfies the requirements of the people who use it. So a goal-oriented entrepreneur wants to use any tools or techniques that help achieve success. Systems engineering provides those tools and techniques. The purpose of this paper will be to use fundamentals used in systems engineering to develop a business and marketing plan that will help Antoniette\u27s Income Tax Services succeed and establish itself as a profitable and successful tax business.
We will start off by using systems engineering to develop a business model for Antoniette\u27 s Income Tax Services. The business model will act as a framework to identify customers, competition, markets analysis, and requirements. Next we will describe products and services offered. A detailed description of our marketing plan will lay the foundation for which Antoniette\u27 s Income Tax Services will attract and retain customers. We will use System Architecture to help visualize, understand, and take in the scope and complexity of the business. Risk and ethical issues will also be considered. Value Stream Mapping will be used to identify and eliminate waste found in our business. Start up expenses and sources of capital will be discussed. Finally a financial plan will be created based on a 12 months estimated growth.
Applying systems engineering techniques on a project doesn\u27t guarantee success; not following a systems approach, however, is a strong recipe for failure. By the end of the document the goal is to show that systems engineering can be just as effective for nontechnical fields as it is for complex engineering projects
