The pointing errors of geosynchronous satellites
A study of the correlation between cloud motion and wind field was initiated. Cloud heights and displacements were being obtained from a ceilometer and movie pictures, while winds were measured from pilot balloon observations on a near-simultaneous basis. Cloud motion vectors were obtained from time-lapse cloud pictures, using the WINDCO program, for 27, 28 July, 1969, in the Atlantic. The relationship between observed features of cloud clusters and the ambient wind field derived from cloud trajectories on a wide range of space and time scales is discussed
Comparison of perturbative expansions using different phonon bases for two-site Holstein model
The two-site single-polaron problem is studied within the perturbative
expansions using different standard phonon basis obtained through the Lang
Firsov (LF), modified LF (MLF) and modified LF transformation with squeezed
phonon states (MLFS). The role of these convergent expansions using the above
prescriptions in lowering the energy and in determining the correlation
functions are compared for different values of coupling strength. The
single-electron energy, oscillator wave functions and correlation functions are
calculated for the same system. The applicability of different phonon basis in
different regimes of the coupling strength as well as in different regimes of

Controlled Natural Language Generation from a Multilingual FrameNet-based Grammar
This paper presents a currently bilingual but potentially multilingual
FrameNet-based grammar library implemented in Grammatical Framework. The
contribution of this paper is two-fold. First, it offers a methodological
approach to automatically generate the grammar based on semantico-syntactic
valence patterns extracted from FrameNet-annotated corpora. Second, it provides
a proof of concept for two use cases illustrating how the acquired multilingual
grammar can be exploited in different CNL applications in the domains of arts
and tourism

Controlled Flow of Spin-Entangled Electrons via Adiabatic Quantum Pumping
We propose a method to dynamically generate and control the flow of
spin-entangled electrons, each belonging to a spin-singlet, by means of
adiabatic quantum pumping. The pumping cycle functions by periodic time
variation of localized two-body interactions. We develop a generalized approach
to adiabatic quantum pumping as traditional methods based on scattering matrix
in one dimension cannot be applied here. We specifically compute the flow of
spin-entangled electrons within a Hubbard-like model of quantum dots, and
discuss possible implementations and identify parameters that can be used to

Plasmons in coupled bilayer structures
We calculate the collective charge density excitation dispersion and spectral
weight in bilayer semiconductor structures {\it including effects of interlayer
tunneling}. The out-of-phase plasmon mode (the ``acoustic'' plasmon) develops a
long wavelength gap in the presence of tunneling with the gap being
proportional to the square root (linear power) of the tunneling amplitude in
the weak (strong) tunneling limit. The in-phase plasmon mode is qualitatively
unaffected by tunneling. The predicted plasmon gap should be a useful tool for
