    Compact stars in f(R,T)f(R,T) gravity

In the present paper we generate a set of solutions describing the interior of a compact star under f(R,T)f(R,T) theory of gravity which admits conformal motion. We consider the equation of state (EOS) p=ωρp=\omega\rho with 0<ω<10<\omega<1 for the fluid distribution consisting normal matter, ω\omega being the EOS parameter. We therefore explore several aspects of the model analytically along with graphical representations to check the physical validity as well as acceptability of it within specified observational constraint in connection to a dozen of the compact star candidates. It is shown from the presented model that these objects are nothing but radiating compact stars.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures, 1 table, substantial modification based on referee repor

Background: Malaria is one of the most widespread diseases in the world. It is endemic in 91 countries. Each year 300-500 million cases of malaria are confirmed with 1.5-2.7 million deaths. Malaria is a major public health problem in Africa. A large number of united nations troops are deployed in central Africa making them vulnerable to malaria infection. Present study was undertaken to find out the clinical and laboratory findings of malaria cases in a United Nation’s referral hospital in Central Africa. Methods: It is a retrospective study of 150 confirmed and treated cases of malaria for a period of one year in a referral hospital for peace keeping troops and employees of United Nations in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Patients positive by ICT or slide positive were included. Detailed history, examination and lab features of these patients were recorded and analyzed. Results: A total of 150 patients were included in the study. Out of which 145 patients were of pure P. falciparum malaria, 02 patients had only P. vivax, and 03 patients were having mixed malaria. Fever was the main symptoms found in all patients. Headache was the second most predominant symptoms in (70%) patients. Other signs and symptoms were vomiting (31%), myalgia (38%), jaundice (10%), hepatosplenomegaly (15%), pallor (42%) and decreased urine output (8%). Duration of symptoms was between 4 to 15 days. Thrombocytopenia was observed in 43% patients. Jaundice in (10%), transaminitis in (25%). Anaemia was seen in 53% patients. Conclusions: Malaria was found to be the most common cause of admission in our hospital. It is important to suspect malaria in all persons deployed in DRC and presenting with fever and associated headache, jaundice, transaminitis and thrombocytopenia. Early diagnosis and treatment can be lifesaving to prevent complications and mortality

Erythrophagocytosis and its relation to band 3 clustering in chronic myelogenous leukemia

    Get PDF
Band 3, a major erythrocyte membrane glycoprotein, undergoes topographic redistribution leading to enhanced clustering, in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). This is probably due to the binding of heme compounds to the CML erythrocyte membrane resulting from depletion of cellular levels of reduced glutathione (GSH). Band 3 clustering appears to be one of the factors associated with increased erythrophagocytosis in CML

Interaction study of Glutamic Acid with double-stranded calf thymus DNA by using Cyclic Voltammetric, Ultraviolet-visible and Fluorescence spectroscopy

Interaction of glutamic acid (Glu) was studied with double-stranded (ds) calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) by cyclic voltammetry (CV) then obtained results were further correlated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and fluorescence spectroscopies. Calculated binding constant from all techniques was very close to each other and it is around 3.54× 103 M L-1. Further binding sites were also calculated and it is near to 1, which indicates appropriate binding of Glu with CT-DNA. The result shows Glu binds in groove modes of DNA. Further binding free energy (∆G) of the complex was also calculated and it is -4.76 kCal M-1. In our work a correlative intractability pattern for Glu with DNA has been identified.
