    KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY AND FIRM PERFORMANCE: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL AGILITY

    Get PDF
    Implementing knowledge management capability (KMC) effectively is becoming an important strategic issue for organizational success. However, our understanding about the underlying mechanism of KMC on firm performance is still limited. Based on the dynamic capabilities perspective, this study tries to explore how KMC (i.e., exploration KMC and exploitation KMC) affects firm performance through the mediating role of operational adjustment agility and market capitalizing agility. Survey data from 211 firms indicate that both operational adjustment agility and market capitalizing agility can fully mediate the influence of KMC on firm performance. In addition, the relationship intensions of these two KMC on organizational agility are distinguishing. We conclude with implications and limitations for future research

    Building crack monitoring is of great value to the judgment of building safety. In this study, the digital image processing technology was studied and applied to the monitoring of building cracks. Crack images were collected by CCD camera, and then operations such as graying, correction, denoising and segmentation were carried out to obtain clear crack images. The obtained images are processed morphologically to further improve the quality. Finally, the width and length of cracks are calculated. In the case analysis, the results of 15 cracks measured by microscope were taken as the standards and compared with the calculated results. The results showed that the results calculated in this study and the manual measurement results differed little, and the average error of the width and length is 0.021 mm and 0.024 mm respectively, which suggested that the method proposed had high reliability. The findings of this study provides a new idea for the further development of building crack monitoring field, which is conducive to the accurate assessment of building safety

    Interplay between multiple charge-density waves and the relationship with superconductivity in Pdx_xHoTe3_{3}

    Full text link
    HoTe3_{3}, a member of the rare-earth tritelluride (RRTe3_{3}) family, and its Pd-intercalated compounds, Pdx_xHoTe3_{3}, where superconductivity (SC) sets in as the charge-density wave (CDW) transition is suppressed by the intercalation of a small amount of Pd, are investigated using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and electrical resistivity. Two incommensurate CDWs with perpendicular nesting vectors are observed in HoTe3_{3} at low temperatures. With a slight Pd intercalation (xx = 0.01), the large CDW gap decreases and the small one increases. The momentum dependence of the gaps along the inner Fermi surface (FS) evolves from orthorhombicity to near tetragonality, manifesting the competition between two CDW orders. At xx = 0.02, both CDW gaps decreases with the emergence of SC. Further increasing the content of Pd for xx = 0.04 will completely suppress the CDW instabilities and give rise to the maximal SC order. The evolution of the electronic structures and electron-phonon couplings (EPCs) of the multiple CDWs upon Pd intercalation are carefully scrutinized. We discuss the interplay between multiple CDW orders, and the competition between CDW and SC in detail.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

    Angelica sinensis has been used to attenuate cold-induced cutaneous vasospasm syndrome, such as Raynaud’s disease and frostbite, in China for many years. Ferulic acid (PubChem CID: 445858) and Z-ligustilide (PubChem CID: 529865), two major components extracted from Angelica sinensis, had been reported to inhibit vasoconstriction induced by vasoconstrictors. In this study, the pharmacological interaction in regulating cold-induced vascular smooth muscle cell contraction via cold-sensing protein TRPM8 and TRPA1 was analyzed between ferulic acid and Z-ligustilide. Pharmacological interaction on inhibiting [Ca2+]i influx evoked by TRPM8 agonist WS-12 or TRPA1 agonist ASP 7663 as well as cold-induced upregulation of TRPM8 was determined using isobolographic analysis. The isobolograms demonstrated that the combinations investigated in this study produced a synergistic interaction. Combination effect of two components in inhibiting RhoA activation and phosphorylation of MLC20 induced by WS-12 or ASP 7663 was also being quantified. These findings suggest that the therapeutic effect of Angelica sinensis on cold-induced vasospasm may be partially attributed to combinational effect, via TRPM8 and TPRA1 way, between ferulic acid and Z-ligustilide

    The purpose of this study was to express recombinant human interferon lambda3 (rhIFN-λ3) in Escherichia coli, and prepare PEGylated recombinant human interferon lambda3 (PEG-rhIFN-λ3). The rhIFN-λ3 gene was inserted into pThioHisA vector after codon optimization and transformed into E. coli top10 strain, and then it was induced with isopropyl-β-D-thio-galactoside (IPTG). The recombinant protein was subjected to mPEG-ButyrALD modification after dialysis, renaturation and chromatographic purification. Subsequently, the modified product was preliminary isolated and purified for determining its activity. Results show that the recombinant protein was expressed in the form of inclusion bodies. After ion exchange, molecular sieve and other column chromatography purification, the purity of the purified rhIFN-λ3 was as high as 90% and the purity of the mono-PEGylated rhIFN-λ3 after cation-exchange chromatography was as high as 86%. The 50% effective concentration (EC50) of rhIFN-λ3 in WISH cells against vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) was 8.43 ng/mL, while the EC50 of mono-PEGylated rhIFN-λ3 was 49.19 ng/mL, which reserved 17.14% of the in vitro activity and supported further studies of this new type of investigational interferon. Further study is needed to better understand the in vivo immunogenicity, antigenicity, stability and antiviral activity of PEG-rhIFN-λ3.Keywords: Recombinant human interferon lambda3, prokaryotic expression, purification, mPEG-ButyrALD, antiviral activity

    Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Induced Immunoregulation Involves Fas Ligand/Fas-Mediated T Cell Apoptosis

    Systemic infusion of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) shows therapeutic benefit for a variety of autoimmune diseases, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Here we show that in mice systemic infusion of BMMSCs induced transient T-cell apoptosis via the Fas ligand (FasL)-dependent Fas pathway and could ameliorate disease phenotypes in fibrillin-1 mutated systemic sclerosis (SS) and dextran sulfate sodium-induced experimental colitis. FasL−/− BMMSCs did not induce T-cell apoptosis in recipients, and could not ameliorate SS and colitis. Mechanistic analysis revealed that Fas-regulated monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1) secretion by BMMSCs recruited T-cells for FasL-mediated apoptosis. The apoptotic T-cells subsequently triggered macrophages to produce high levels of TGFβ which in turn led to the upregulation of Tregs and, ultimately, to immune tolerance. These data therefore demonstrate a previously unrecognized mechanism underlying BMMSC-based immunotherapy involving coupling via Fas/FasL to induce T-cell apoptosis

    miRNA-378 reverses chemoresistance to cisplatin in lung adenocarcinoma cells by targeting secreted clusterin

    Cisplatin resistance is a major obstacle in the treatment of NSCLC, and its mechanism has not been fully elucidated. The objectives of the study were to determine the role of miR-378 in the sensitivity of lung adenocarcinoma cells to cisplatin (cDDP) and its working mechanism. With TargetScan and luciferase assay, miR-378 was found to directly target sCLU. miR-378 and sCLU were regulated in A549/cDDP and Anip973/cDDP cells to investigate the effect of miR-378 on the sensitivity and apoptotic effects of cDDP. The effect of miR-378 upregulation on tumor growth was analyzed in a nude mouse xenograft model. The correlation between miR-378 and chemoresistance was tested in patient samples. We found that upregulation of miR-378 in A549/cDDP and Anip973/cDDP cells significantly down-regulated sCLU expression, and sensitized these cells to cDDP. miR-378 overexpression inhibited tumor growth and sCLU expression in a xenograft animal model. Analysis of human lung adenocarcinoma tissues revealed that the cDDP sensitive group expressed higher levels of miR-378 and lower levels of sCLU. miR-378 and sCLU were negatively correlated. To conclude, we identified sCLU as a novel miR-378 target, and we showed that targeting sCLU via miR-378 may help disable the chemoresistance against cisplatin in lung adenocarcinoma cells

    The extraction and recycling of phenol from high concentration coal gasification wastewater has been studied using polypropylene (PP) hollow fiber membrane and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membrane as liquid membrane support, the mixture of tributyl phosphate (TBP) and kerosene as liquid membrane phase, and sodium hydroxide as stripping agent in the process of extraction. The experiments investigated the effect of the operating conditions of the hollow fiber supported liquid membrane, such as aqueous phase temperature and the connection forms of membrane modules, on the extraction efficiency of phenol from high concentration coal gasification wastewater. The conclusions obtained from lab scale experiments provided guidance for scale-up experiments. So, in the scale-up experiments, three membrane modules connected in parallel, then three membrane modules connected in series were used to increase the treatment capacity and improve the treatment effect, under the operating conditions of wastewater temperature 20 ËšC, PH 7.5~8.1, flow rate 100 L/h and the concentration of stripping phase 0.1 mol/L, stripping phase flow rate 50 L/h, the extraction efficiency of the PP-TBP supported liquid membrane system was 87.02% and the phenol concentration of effluent was 218.14mg/L. And the phenol concentration of effluent met the requirements of further biodegradation treatment
