    The text highlights the strategic approach that different American administrations have employed toward China. At the same time, drawing on Fukuyama’s ideas related to the end of history, the text argues that a rising China and the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War have called into question the process of globalization. In its second part, the text deals with the current approaches that Washington has on the table toward China, that is, the liberal idea, decoupling, and Competition without Catastrophe. In the end, the article argues that, irrespective of the type of relation between the Western world and China, it is highly likely that China will be on the foreign policy agenda of all major countries in the following decade
