    Discord Monitoring for Streaming Time-Series

Many applications generate time-series and analyze it. One of the most important time-series analysis tools is anomaly detection, and discord discovery aims at finding an anomaly subsequence in a time-series. Time-series is essentially dynamic, so monitoring the discord of a streaming time-series is an important problem. This paper addresses this problem and proposes SDM (Streaming Discord Monitoring), an algorithm that efficiently updates the discord of a streaming time-series over a sliding window. We show that SDM is approximation-friendly, i.e., the computational efficiency is accelerated by monitoring an approximate discord with theoretical bound. Our experiments on real datasets demonstrate the efficiency of SDM and its approximate version. This version of the contribution has been accepted for publication, after peer review (when applicable) but is not the Version of Record and does not reflect post-acceptance improvements, or any corrections. Culture System for Bobwhite Quail Embryos from the Blastoderm Stage to Hatching

Quail are divided phylogenetically into two groups, Old World quail and New World quail. Old World quail, such as the Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica), belong to the Phasianidae and distributed in the Palaearctic region (Europe, North Africa, and Asia), whereas New World quail, such as the bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus), belong to the Odontophoridae and are restricted to North and South America. Both the bobwhite quail and the Japanese quail are used as models for avian safety assessment as recommended by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines. However, biological studies on the bobwhite quail have been limited compared with those on the Japanese quail. We have therefore now developed an ex vivo culture protocol for bobwhite quail embryos from the blastoderm stage through hatching. Of the various culture conditions examined in the present study, a good hatching rate (39%) was obtained when the embryos were cultured ex vivo in a two-step procedure. Unincubated embryos (with egg yolk) were first cultured inside the shell of a Japanese quail egg (11.5 to 13.0 g whole egg weight) together with chicken thin albumen for 63 to 65 h and were then transferred to the shell of a small-sized chicken egg (38 g whole egg weight) until hatching. This ex vivo culture system should provide to be widely applicable to the maintenance and generation of manipulated birds for basic and applied studies on the bobwhite quail.ArticleJOURNAL OF POULTRY SCIENCE. 50(2):155-158 (2013)journal articl

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C19H16O3, contains three independent conformers. Each of the three conformers has essentially the same feature of non-coplanar aromatic rings whereby the aroyl group at the 1-position of the naphthalene ring is twisted in a perpendicular manner to the naphthalene ring. The dihedral angles between the benzene ring planes and the naphthalene ring systems are 75.34 (7), 86.47 (7) and 76.55 (6)° in the three conformers. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

Anionic ordering in Pb₂Ti₄O₉F₂ revisited by nuclear magnetic resonance and density functional theory

複合アニオン材料の構造決定における実験と計算の融合的アプローチ. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2022-10-31.A combination of 19F magic angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and density functional theory (DFT) were used to study the ordering of F atoms in Pb₂Ti₄O₉F₂. This analysis revealed that F atoms predominantly occupy two of the six available inequivalent sites in a ratio of 73 : 27. DFT-based calculations explained the preference of F occupation on these sites and quantitatively reproduced the experimental occupation ratio, independent of the choice of functional. We concluded that the Pb atom's 6s2 lone pair may play a role (∼0.1 eV per f.u.) in determining the majority and minority F occupation sites with partial density of states and crystal orbital Hamiltonian population analyses applied to the DFT wave functions

Increased Regional Epicardial Fat Volume Associated with Reversible Myocardial Ischemia in Patients with Suspected Coronary Artery Disease

Epicardial adipose tissue is a source of pro-inflammatory cytokines and has been linked to the development of coronary artery disease. No study has systematically assessed the relationship between local epicardial fat volume (EFV) and myocardial perfusion defects. We analyzed EFV in patients undergoing SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging combined with computed tomography (CT) for attenuation correction. Low-dose CT without contrast was performed in 396 consecutive patients undergoing SPECT imaging for evaluation of coronary artery disease. Regional thickness, cross-sectional areas, and total EFV were assessed. 295 patients had normal myocardial perfusion scans and 101 had abnormal perfusion scans. Mean EFVs in normal, ischemic, and infarcted hearts were 99.8 ± 82.3 cm3, 156.4 ± 121.9 cm3, and 96.3 ± 102.1 cm3, respectively (P < 0.001). Reversible perfusion defects were associated with increased local EFV compared to normal perfusion in the distribution of the right (69.2 ± 51.5 vs 46.6 ± 32.0 cm3; P = 0.03) and left anterior descending coronary artery (87.1 ± 76.4 vs 46.7 ± 40.6 cm3; P = 0.005). Our results demonstrate increased regional epicardial fat in patients with active myocardial ischemia compared to patients with myocardial scar or normal perfusion on nuclear perfusion scans. Our results suggest a potential role for cardiac CT to improve risk stratification in patients with suspected coronary artery disease
