A migráció vizsgálatával hazánkban az 1989-es rendszerváltás után kezdtek el szociológusok es közgazdászok foglalkozni. A 90-es évek első kutatási témáit a XX. századi migrációs elméletek és tendenciák magyar adaptálása jellemezte. A küzdelem folyamatos volt egy statisztikai rendszer kialakításáért, minél pontosabb becslésekért, és a feltárható, de részben tilalmak alá eső adatok megszerzéséért. Ez a tanulmány a már hivatkozott 1997-es PHARE kutatáshoz készült a BAZ megyei hiányosságával, illetve pontatlanságával

The impact of the first global financial crisis in the 20th century on the Hungarian regional employment inequalities

 The crisis is a sign that current driving forces of development are wearing out, and the former mentality can no longer be successful either. The crisis highlights that new driving forces should be found and different mentality is necessary to build an acceptable future for the major part of the society. Although the crisis itself is a negative process, it incorporates the possibility of future recovery and the hope of a new beginning. The lack of changes facilitating social renewal has caused major damages recently because the outdated thinking and the lack of appropriate regulatory instruments damage nature and the base necessary for our life [Nováky, 2011]. The researcher’s responsibilities are not only to determine the facts and relationships, but to seek for constructive solutions, and to help apply it by the economic policy. This is not necessarily a political attitude, even though it is indisputable that the economic analysis of public policy includes the use of substantive – normative and positive – theories, but on the other hand, it requires a specific theory-building strategy [Csontos, 1997]. Support or Public Work? The Potentials and Results of Communal Work in the Region of Northern Hungary

The subject of our article is the examination of „working chance instead of support” programs. The basic element of the analysis is a questionnaire, which was fi lled in by the local governments and non-governmental organizations in the region of Northern Hungary. The results are analyzed with statistical methods (correlation, regression analysis etc.). The main goal is to get signifi cant information, appraise the experiences of „The Way to Work” Program, disclosing of development chances, presentation of settlement differences derived from the size. Finally we formulate suggestions to a sensitive employment policy

„Különlegesnek lenni.” Középiskolások tanulási célú mobilitását meghatározó attitűdök, motivációk

A fiatalok vándorlása jelentős társadalmi és gazdasági előnyökkel és hátrányokkal jár. A folyamatok irányíthatóságával kapcsolatban számos – akár ellentétes végkövetkeztetésű – elméleti és gyakorlati kutatás foglalkozott, amelyek azonban egyetértettek abban, hogy a folyamatok mélyebb megismerése elengedhetetlen. Ebben a tanulmányban a magyarországi középiskolás diákok tanulási célú mobilitásának jellemzőit elemezzük. A kutatás keretében 17 irányított interjút készítettünk olyan diákokkal, akik legalább 3 hónapot tanultak az Európai Unió valamely tagországában, illetve szakértői mélyinterjúkat folytattunk. Bemutatjuk, hogy a középiskolás diákok mobilitási döntésében mekkora szerepet játszik például a szülői „nyomás”, a baráti kapcsolatok és a „referenciaközeg” véleménye. Azt is tanulmányoztuk, hogy akik középiskolás korukban vállalják a külföldi tanulmányokat, hamarabb válnak-e „éretté”, vagyis azt, hogy a diákok személyiségében milyen változást okoztak a külföldön töltött hónapok, milyen kapcsolatokat építettek ki, milyen utat jártak be, hogy „különlegessé váljanak” a mobilitásban részt nem vevő társaikkal szemben. Judgement of employment by the methods of systematic data collection

Our research aims at examining the opinion of the Hungarian population about employment. We would like to define what factors are mainly associated with employment and what the exact meaning of these factors is. To carry out our research we have used the techniques of systematic data collection. This method, developed in the 1980s by anthropologist Susan C. Weller, and mathematician A. Kimball Romney in the United States, help researchers in the social sciences collect better interview or questionnaire data. This slowly spreading qualitative research method of systematic interviewing – where each informant is asked the same set of questions – diminished the sample size required in social science research in a revolutionary way.
