Design of an integrated shallow water wave experiment
The experimental design and instrumentation for an integrated shallow-water surface gravity wave experiment is discussed. The experiment required the measurement of the water surface elevation, meteorological parameters, and directional spectra at a number of locations on a shallow lake. In addition, to acquire data under a wide range of conditions, an experimental period of three years was required. A system of telephone and radio modem links were installed to enable real-time monitoring of instrument performance at eight separate measurement locations on the lake. This system also enabled logging sessions to be optimized to ensure the maximum possible data return from this extended experimentIEEE Oceanic Engineering Societ
Teleportation with a uniformly accelerated partner
In this work, we give a description of the process of teleportation between
Alice in an inertial frame, and Rob who is in uniform acceleration with respect
to Alice. The fidelity of the teleportation is reduced due to Unruh radiation
in Rob's frame. In so far as teleportation is a measure of entanglement, our
results suggest that quantum entanglement is degraded in non inertial frames.Comment: 7 pages with 4 figures (in revtex4
Environmental Dependence of the Fundamental Plane of Galaxy Clusters
Galaxy clusters approximate a planar (FP) distribution in a three-dimensional
parameter space which can be characterized by optical luminosity, half-light
radius, and X-ray luminosity. Using a high-quality catalog of cluster
redshifts, we find the nearest neighbor cluster for those common to an FP study
and the cluster catalog. Examining scatter about the FP, we find 99.2%
confidence that it is dependent on nearest neighbor distance. Our study of
X-Ray clusters finds that those with high central gas densities are
systematically closer to neighbor clusters. If we combine results here with
those of Fritsch and Buchert, we find an explanation for some of our previous
conclusions: Clusters in close proximity to other clusters are more likely to
have massive cooling flows because they are more relaxed and have higher
central gas densities.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astrophysical Journal Letters. Moderate

Toxin Induced Parkinsonism and Hospitalization Related Adverse Outcome Mitigation for Parkinson’s Disease: A Comprehensive Review
Patients with Parkinson’s disease admitted to the hospital have unique presentations. This unique subset of patients requires a multidisciplinary approach with a knowledge-based care team that can demonstrate awareness of complications specific to Parkinson’s disease to reduce critical care admissions, morbidity, and mortality. Early recognition of toxic exposures, medication withdrawals, or medication-induced symptoms can reduce morbidity and mortality. This review can assist in the critical assessment of new or exacerbating Parkinson’s disease symptoms
Transient Myocarditis Associated with Fulminant Colitis
Case Summary. An 18-year old man presented with a three-week history of abdominal pain, weight loss and bloody diarrhoea. He was profoundly septic, with generalised abdominal tenderness. CT and flexible sigmoidosopy confirmed colitis of the colon with rectal sparing. Laparotomy was performed when conservative management failed to improve his condition. Subtotal colectomy, with end ileostomy and mucus fistula formation, was performed in light of active colitis. Despite successful operative intervention the patient acute left ventricular failure, raising the possibility of giant cell myocarditis, which fully resolved before a definitive diagnosis could be reached. Discussion. It is possible that the transient cardiac failure in this case may represent an overwhelming inflammatory response or myocarditis. Inflammatory bowel disease is rarely associated with giant cell myocarditis (GCM). GCM usually affects a young population and its prognosis is variable, ranging from complete recovery, remission with recurrence and fatality. The management of this group of patients is still relatively experimental. Conclusion. Fulminant colitis can be associated with a rapid deterioration in cardiac function. Causes include sepsis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome or myocarditis. GCM should be considered in patients with new onset of left ventricular failure that decline rapidly
