    Interleukin-6 in the ejaculate in normal and pathological conditions of the male reproductive system

    The study of immune mechanisms in inflammatory diseases of the male reproductive system, androgen deficiency and male infertility continues. The relationship of the content of a particular component of seminal plasma with the indicators of ejaculate fertility – concentration, mobility and morphological features of spermatozoa was revealed. A prominent representative of the group of proinflammatory cytokines is interleukin-6 (IL-6), whose main functions are activation of the immune response in the acute phase of the systemic inflammatory response, stimulation of the expression of adhesive molecules on endothelial cells and leukocyte chemotaxis, activation of T - and B - lymphocyte proliferation, and stimulation of the granulocyte growth of hematopoiesis. In the male reproductive system, IL-6 is produced by Sertoli cells; it is found in the tissues of the testicles, in the ejaculate. It was found that an increase in the level of IL-6 is observed in some pathological conditions of the male reproductive system. An increase in the concentration of IL-6 in the seminal plasma is associated with the development of inflammatory processes in the organs of the male sexual system - it may indicate acute and chronic prostatitis, non-specific urethritis, and chronic pelvic pain syndrome. The fact of active production of IL-6 in the ejaculate in patients with leukocytospermia was revealed. In the case of viscous sperm syndrome, the level of IL-6 in the ejaculate also increases, presumably due to a reaction to the occurrence of oxidative stress in the male reproductive system. There was a negative relationship between the level of IL-6 in the ejaculate and spermatogenesis indicators – the concentration of spermatozoa, the progressive mobility of spermatozoa in men from infertile couples

    Estim ation of Correctness for Cells Recognition by Vision Hema Automated Blood Analysis System

    Blood smear analysis performed (n=21) using Vision Hema automated blood smear analysis system. To estimate the quality of blood cells recognition operational criteria were used: Diagnostic Sensitivity (DSe), Diagnostic Specificity (DSp) and Diagnostic Effectiveness (DE), that are calculated automatically by the system. Time elapsed for the analysis of 1 blood smear was 4,43+1,33 minutes, that is comparable with the timing consumption for manual differential leucocytes count. System was scanning blood smear in automatic mode, collecting and pre-classifying the cell images, forming the galleries ot images. Validation by the doctor and forming the report according to analysis results was performed simultaneously, during scanning the new blood smears, and has taken 1,38+0,52 minutes for 1 microscopy slide. High effectiveness of cells recognition for the blood or the healthy persons was revealed for Vision Hema system. Most often correct identification was made for segmented neutrophils (DSe=89,9±5,3%; DSp=92,7+4,6%; DE=91,0+5,5%) and lymphocytes (DSe=97,3+5,3% DSp=90,3+4,4% DE=90,3+4,4%). The largest number of errors was made for determination of band neutrophils (DSe=46,5+8,2%). Using automated analysis systems has made the results of morphology estimation for the blood cells more objective.Выполнен анализ мазков крови (п=21) с помощью автоматизированной системы анализа крови Vision Hema. Для оценки качества распознавания клеток крови использованы операционные критерии: диагностическая чувствительность (ДЧ), диагностическая специфичность (ДС) и диагностическая эффективность (ДЭ), рассчитывавшиеся системой автоматически. Время, затраченное на анализ 1 мазка крови, составило 4,43+1,33 минуты, что сопоставимо с затратами времени при ручном подсчете лейкоцитарной формулы. Система в автоматическом режиме сканировала мазок крови, собирала и преклассифицировала изображения клеток, формируя галереи изображений. Врачебная валидация и формирование отчета по результатам анализа, проводилась одновременно, со сканированием новых мазков крови и заняла 1,38+0,52 минуты на 1 стеклопрепарат. Установлена высокая эффективность распознавания клеток крови здорового человека системой Vision Hema. Наиболее правильно идентифицировались сегментоядерные нейтрофилы (ДЧ=89,9±5,3%; ДС=92,7+4,6%; Д3=91,0+5,5%) и лимфоциты (ДН=97,3+5,3% ДС=90,3+4,4% ДЭ=90,3+4,4%). Наибольшее количество ошибок допускалось при определении палочкоядерных нейтрофилов (ДЧ=46,5+8,2%).     Possible Odd-Frequency Superconductivity in Strong-Coupling Electron-Phonon Systems

    A possibility of the odd-frequency pairing in the strong-coupling electron-phonon systems is discussed. Using the Holstein-Hubbard model, we demonstrate that the anomalously soft Einstein mode with the frequency ωEωc\omega_{\rm E}\ll\omega_{c} (ωc\omega_{c} is the order of the renormalized bandwidth) mediates the s-wave odd-frequency triplet pairing against the ordinary even-frequency singlet pairing. It is necessary for the emergence of the odd-frequency pairing that the pairing interaction is strongly retarded as well as the strong coupling, since the pairing interaction for the odd-frequency pairing is effective only in the diagonal scattering channel, (ωn,ωn)(ωn,ωn)(\omega_{n},-\omega_{n})\to(\omega_{n'},-\omega_{n'}) with ωn=ωnωE\omega_{n'}=\omega_{n}\gtrsim \omega_{\rm E}. Namely, the odd-frequency superconductivity is realized in the opposite limit of the original BCS theory. The Ginzburg-Landau analysis in the strong-coupling region shows that the specific-heat discontinuity and the slope of the temperature dependence of the superfluid density can be quite small as compared with the BCS values, depending on the ratio of the transition temperature TcT_{c} and ωc\omega_{c}.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, submitted to J.
