Studying the compactibility of the VT22 high-strength alloy powder obtained by the PREP method

Compression curves are plotted for VT22 high-strength alloy powder under conditions of uniaxial compression at room temperature. The density of the compacted briquette at the loading and unloading stages is determined. It is demonstrated that strong interparticle bonds are formed in the area of the action of shear deformation. The results are supposed to be used to identify the flow model of the material studied and to perform the subsequent numerical modeling of the compaction process. © 2017 Author(s)

Practical thermodynamics of Yukawa systems at strong coupling

    Get PDF
Simple practical approach to estimate thermodynamic properties of strongly coupled Yukawa systems, in both fluid and solid phases, is presented. The accuracy of the approach is tested by extensive comparison with direct computer simulation results (for fluids and solids) and the recently proposed shortest-graph method (for solids). Possible applications to other systems of softly repulsive particles are briefly discussed.Comment: Published in J. Chem. Phy

Russian-British Economic Rivalry in Eastern Persia at the turn of the 20th Century: Kerman and Sistan

Introduction. The economic development of Eastern Persian provinces Kerman and Sistan — and the latter’s role in Russian-British economic rivalry — throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries remains somewhat understudied in both Russian and foreign historiographies. Goals. The article attempts an analysis of key trends in the development of Sistan and Kerman at the turn of the 20th century and their significance in foreign economic activities of both Great Britain and Russia. Materials and methods. The paper investigates reports by Russian diplomats to have headed Consulates to Kerman and Sistan. The employed research methods are the historical/genetic, historical/comparative, and historical/typological ones. Results. Russian diplomats paid great attention to peculiarities of Kerman and Sistan’s development, with due regard of their ethnic compositions, climatic conditions, and economic potentials. The article emphasizes that for a long time foreign trade of Kerman and Sistan was dominated by the British Empire which used, first of all, the potential and experience gained by India in organizing trade with Persia. The analysis of the Russian diplomatic reports shows since the late 19th century Russia — driven by its own foreign economic ambitions in Eastern Persia — was showing great interest in these provinces. St. Petersburg was aware of the impossibility of maintaining political dominance in Persia without strengthening its economic presence in the country, including in regions traditionally dominated by the British Empire. This initiative of St. Petersburg caused great concern in London. Conclusions. In the late 19th – early 20th centuries, Russia succeeded in challenging the positions of the British Empire in Sistan and Kerman markets, even in the segment of textile exports traditionally dominated by Great Britain. At the same time, when it comes to describe the obvious achievements of Russia in Persia’s eastern provinces it should be noted that Russian entrepreneurs showed little interest in developing trade with Kerman and Sistan. Therefore, most foreign economic operations were to be implemented with the active participation of Russian diplomatic missions. However, on the eve of WWI Russia’s entrepreneurs did take an initiative of their own, and thus paved further trade success in Sistan and Kerman

Simulation of stress-strain state at the boundaries of a bimetallic composite to determine tear-off resistance

Simulation modeling of the deformation under mechanical action on the sample workpiece of the steel-aluminum bimetallic composite material with a thin aluminum intermediate layer was performed. The stress-strain state along the boundaries of the joint at which the sample workpiece layering occurs was determined. A series of computational experiments with varying the specific work value of the layering under separation conditions was implemented. The level of stresses, leading to the separation of the bimetallic compound, is estimated using the energy criterion. The dependence of the rupture strength along the ring contour on the specific work value of the layering varied in the range of 0.1-0.2 N/mm was calculated. It was established that for the studied variants of the computational experiment, a rigid stress state with the predominance of normal tensile stresses is implemented in place of the beginning of the layering. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

A transverse current rectification in graphene superlattice

A model for energy spectrum of superlattice on the base of graphene placed on the striped dielectric substrate is proposed. A direct current component which appears in that structure perpendicularly to pulling electric field under the influence of elliptically polarized electromagnetic wave was derived. A transverse current density dependence on pulling field magnitude and on magnitude of component of elliptically polarized wave directed along the axis of a superlattice is analyzed.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

Mucin-poor mucinous tubular and spindle cell kidney cancer and clear cell renal cell carcinoma: a rare clinical case

    Get PDF
Mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma of the kidney is a rare low-grade malignant tumour and accounts for less than 1% of all renal neoplasms. The classic morphological structure of the tumor is represented by three elements: spindle cells, ducts and myxoid or mucinous stroma. This tumor is indolent with a low risk of metastasis and a favorable outcome. However, cases with relapses, metastases to regional lymph nodes, and distant metastases, which were mainly characterised by high nuclear atypia, sarcomatoid transformation and other atypical morphological features are described in the literature. Several cases of mucin-poor and mucin-free mucinous tubular and spindle cell renal cell carcinoma have also been presented, making it difficult to differentiate from other renal cell carcinomas. There are reports of cases of mucin poor mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, which were accompanied by relapses and metastases. Thus, although the tumour is indolent, careful follow-up is necessary even after radical excision. In this article, we report a rare clinical case of combination of mucin-poor mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma and clear cell renal cell carcinoma of the kidney in a 50-year-old man. The results of clinical and instrumental studies, as well as the morphological features of both tumors are presented. Due to the atypical morphological structure of mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, the final diagnosis was possible using an immunohistochemical method, which demonstrated the immunohistochemical profile characteristic of this tumour

The Minimum-Uncertainty Squeezed States for for Atoms and Photons in a Cavity

    Get PDF
We describe a six-parameter family of the minimum-uncertainty squeezed states for the harmonic oscillator in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics. They are derived by the action of corresponding maximal kinematical invariance group on the standard ground state solution. We show that the product of the variances attains the required minimum value 1/4 only at the instances that one variance is a minimum and the other is a maximum, when the squeezing of one of the variances occurs. The generalized coherent states are explicitly constructed and their Wigner function is studied. The overlap coefficients between the squeezed, or generalized harmonic, and the Fock states are explicitly evaluated in terms of hypergeometric functions. The corresponding photons statistics are discussed and some applications to quantum optics, cavity quantum electrodynamics, and superfocusing in channeling scattering are mentioned. Explicit solutions of the Heisenberg equations for radiation field operators with squeezing are found.Comment: 27 pages, no figures, 174 references J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt.
