Metastable Quantum Phase Transitions in a One-Dimensional Bose Gas

This is a chapter for a book. The first paragraph of this chapter is as follows: "Ultracold quantum gases offer a wonderful playground for quantum many body physics, as experimental systems are widely controllable, both statically and dynamically. One such system is the one-dimensional (1D) Bose gas on a ring. In this system binary contact interactions between the constituent bosonic atoms, usually alkali metals, can be controlled in both sign and magnitude; a recent experiment has tuned interactions over seven orders of magnitude, using an atom-molecule resonance called a Feshbach resonance. Thus one can directly realize the Lieb-Liniger Hamiltonian, from the weakly- to the strongly-interacting regime. At the same time there are a number of experiments utilizing ring traps. The ring geometry affords us the opportunity to study topological properties of this system as well; one of the main properties of a superfluid is the quantized circulation in which the average angular momentum per particle, L/N, is quantized under rotation. Thus we focus on a tunable 1D Bose system for which the main control parameters are interaction and rotation. We will show that there is a critical boundary in the interaction-rotation control-parameter plane over which the topological properties of the system change. This is the basis of our concept of \textit{metastable quantum phase transitions} (QPTs). Moreover, we will show that the finite domain of the ring is necessary for the QPT to occur at all because the zero-point kinetic pressure can induce QPTs, i.e., the system must be finite; we thus seek to generalize the concept of QPTs to inherently finite, mesoscopic or nanoscopic systems."Comment: 29 pages, 12 figures, book will appear later this year; v2 is in improved format and includes small corrections for final versio

Topological Winding and Unwinding in Metastable Bose-Einstein Condensates

Topological winding and unwinding in a quasi-one-dimensional metastable Bose-Einstein condensate are shown to be manipulated by changing the strength of interaction or the frequency of rotation. Exact diagonalization analysis reveals that quasidegenerate states emerge spontaneously near the transition point, allowing a smooth crossover between topologically distinct states. On a mean-field level, the transition is accompanied by formation of grey solitons, or density notches, which serve as an experimental signature of this phenomenon.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Kajian Pemanfaatan Energi Arus Laut di Indonesia

Masih belum banyak lembaga penelitian yang melakukan kegiatan penelitian tentang potensi energi arus laut di Indonesia. Tetapi mengingat cadangan sumber energi fosil yang semakin lama akan terus berkurang, maka penelitian tentang potensi energi ini harus terus dilakukan .Untuk tujuan tersebut, Pemerintah telah mengeluarkan sejumlah kebijakan agar penelitian mulai lebih fokus pada pengembangan energi terbarukan khususnya dari laut, mengingat Indonesia sebagai Negara Kepulauan yang memiliki banyak Selat.Pemerintah telah berkomitmen untuk dapat meningkatkan kontribusi Energi Baru Nasional dari 17% saat ini menjadi 23 % pada tahun 2025 nanti. Turut berkontribusi dalam semangat tersebut,Balai Teknologi Hidrodinamika (BTH) telah meng-inisiasi kegiatan penelitian sumber energi arus laut melalui penelitian berbagai tipe turbin Poros vertikal sejak tahun 2006. Terakhir pada tahun 2017 telah dilakukan uji kinerja Turbin Ganda (twin turbine) di Jembatan Suramadu.Meskipun belum mencapai hasil maksimal, tetapi hasilpenelitian tersebut diharapkan dapat meng-inisiasi dan dijadikan sebagai referensi bagi kegiatan penelitian Turbin arus laut lainnya. Penelitian juga telah menghasilkan dua buah sertifikat Paten. Paper ini hanyalah sebagai informasi perkembangan penelitian energi arus laut di BTH dan prospek ke depannya bagi pengembangan penelitian di Indonesi

Bagaimana implikasi yuridis dari perjanjian perkawinan yang tidak disahkan oleh pegawai pencatat perkawinan dipandang dari aspek keperdataan. Bagaimana wujud perlindungan hukum bagi pihak ketiga dalam perjanjian perkawinan yang belum disahkan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk implikasi yuridis dan wujud perlindungan hukum yang berkeadilan bagi pihak ketiga pada perjanjian perkawinan yang belum disahkan. Tulisan ini berdasarkan penelitian hukum normatif pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan Perundang-undangan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah implkasi yuridis dari perjanjian perkawinan yang tidak disahkan adalah tetap mengikat para pihak yang membuatnya dan tidak mengikat pada pihak ketiga. Geophysical research has been done in Jabungan, Banyumanik, Semarang with the objective is to map the fault in the Jabungan area. Jabungan area is an area prone to landslides, several landslide events occurred in the area. From the existing geological map indicated some fault, which predicted in the Jabungan area. Several surveys of geophysical methods were done in the Jabungan area to examine landslide and fault as a disaster environmental study. One of the geophysical methods used is the gravity method. With this method can be obtained fault trend, depth and thickness. This survey is a preliminary survey to map the fault trend. This premilinary survey was done with an area of 2 km x 3,5 km. Keefektifan Metode Simulasi terhadap Keterampilan Sosialmahasiswa pada Mata Kuliah Metodologi Pembe¬lajaran di Pgsd Upy

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference score students' social skills (social responsibility, cooperation, and tolerance) among students who attend the lecture course learning methods and simulation methods that the lecture method.This research is a quasi experimentation with pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all students of class 2012 PGSD UPY. Sampel selected by random sampling technique to determine the experimental class. Data obtained by questionnaire with Likert scale and observation sheet to collect data about students' social skills. Data were analyzed using statistical techniques Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) and a significance test with α = 0.05. From this study showed that there are significant differences on social skills among students who attend lectures with simulation methods and the students who attend the lecture by lecture method. Social skills (social responsibility, cooperation, and tolerance) students of the experimental class (class using simulation method) higher than the social skills of students in the control class (classes using lecture method) because the simulation method is more interactive, centered on the student, cooperative and creative. Class teaching methodology using simulation method is more effective in improving students' social skills (social responsibility, cooperation, tolerance) compared with the lecture method

Pengembangan Buku Guru Dan Buku Peserta Didik Berkarakter Berbasis Kurikulum 2013 Pada SD Kelas III

Tujuan yang ingin dicapai melalui penelitian pengembangan buku guru dan buku peserta didik berkarakter berbasis kurikulum 2013 pada SD kelas III adalah menghasilkan buku ajar berkarakter berbasis kurikulum 2013 pada SD kelas III yang valid.Metode yang dipakai adalah penelitian dan pengembangan Borg dan Gall yang dimodifikasi menjadi lima tahap, yaitu Tahap 1: studi pendahuluan dengan mendapatkan data dari guru SD di Kota semarang kendal dan kajian teori. Tahap 2 :pengembangan buku ajar, berupa buku matematika cerdas dan berkarakter. Tahap 3: validasi isibahan ajar: dengan meminta beberapa orang validator yang terdiri dari praktisi dan akademisi. Tahap 4: validasi konstruk bahan ajar. Tahap 5 uji skala besar. Tahap 1 sampai 3 dilakukan telah dilakukan untuk mendapatkan buku matematika cerdas dan berkarakter yang valid.Pengembanganbuku guru dan buku peserta didik berkarakter berbasis kurikulum 2013 pada SD kelas III yang dikembangkan telah teruji valid. Hasil rata-rata penilaian yang di peroleh dari validator adalah 70 dari skor maksimal 88 (80%) yang berarti bahwa bahan ajar dapat digunakan dengan sedikit revisi. Berdasarkan hasil validasi tersebut dilakukan penyempurnaan draft buku ajar.Buku guru dan buku peserta didik matematika berbasis kurikulum 2013 yang berkarakter pada pembelajaran efektif, yang dapat dilihat dari (1) pembelajaran memenuhi ketuntasan baik secara individual maupun klasikal, (2) keaktifan peserta didik berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar, (3) hasil belajar peserta didik menggunakan buku ajar matematika yang berkarakterlebih baik daripada hasil belajar peserta didik kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan diatas maka buku pengembangan buku guru dan buku peserta didik berkarakter berbasis kurikulum 2013 pada SD kelas III yang telah dilakukan sudah memenuhi prosedur pengembangan validasi isi dan validasi konstruk

This study aimed to examine and analyze the effect of consumer knowledge, consumer feeling, consumer motivation, and consumer personality on decision making for a higher education institution (Case study at the Regular Program of Universitas Mercu Buana). Research data for respondents were 385 regular program students complited, in September – December 2017, using purposive sampling method. The analysis used was Structural Equation Model (SEM) and correlation between dimensions. It showed that consumer knowledge had not significant effect to the decision of University election.
