Neoclassical Theory of Elementary Charges with Spin of 1/2
We advance here our neoclassical theory of elementary charges by integrating
into it the concept of spin of 1/2. The developed spinorial version of our
theory has many important features identical to those of the Dirac theory such
as the gyromagnetic ratio, expressions for currents including the spin current,
and antimatter states. In our theory the concepts of charge and anticharge
relate naturally to their "spin" in its rest frame in two opposite directions.
An important difference with the Dirac theory is that both the charge and
anticharge energies are positive whereas their frequencies have opposite signs
Analytical treatment of SUSY Quasi-normal modes in a non-rotating Schwarzschild black hole
We use the Fock-Ivanenko formalism to obtain the Dirac equation which
describes the interaction of a massless 1/2-spin neutral fermion with a
gravitational field around a Schwarzschild black hole (BH). We obtain
approximated analytical solutions for the eigenvalues of the energy
(quasi-normal frequencies) and their corresponding eigenstates (quasi-normal
states). The interesting result is that all the excited states [and their
supersymmetric (SUSY) partners] have a purely imaginary frequency, which can be
expressed in terms of the Hawking temperature. Furthermore, as one expects for
SUSY Hamiltonians, the isolated bottom state has a real null energy eigenvalue.Comment: Version to be published in European Physical Journal

Incidence of neurological complications in patients with native-valve infective endocarditis and cerebral microembolism: an open cohort study
The objective of this open cohort study was to assess the association between neurological complications in patients with definite native-valve infective endocarditis (IE) and cerebral microembolism (MES). MES detection was performed with 1-h, bilateral middle cerebral arteries (MCA) insonation using a transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) machine. Thirty patients with definite native-valve IE were stratified into 2 groups based upon the presence of MES. The most striking difference between the 2 groups of patients was the incidence of clinically evident neurological complications. Neurological complications of IE occurred in 10 (83.3%) patients with positive MES and in 6 (33.3%) MES-negative patients (p=0.021). Ischaemic stroke was the most common complication, occurring in 11 of 16 patients, followed by meningitis in 4 patients and cerebritis in 1 patient. There was a trend towards greater in-hospital mortality in patients with recorded MES than in the MES-negative, although this was not statistically significant (33.3% vs 16.6%; p=0.392). Our results reveal a significant association between MES and neurological complications in patients with native-valve IE.
