Country differences in technology experience: The effect of teletext on iTV adoption in the United Kingdom
This study found that participant’s previous teletext experience and previous iTV experience influenced their openness towards using interactive television in planning independent longhaul holidays. The study surveyed participants for their previous interactive media experience (internet, iTV and teletext) before viewing a linear or interactive television destination promotion. Two ad models (impulse and telescopic) were tested from two program formats (travel program segment and ad break in a lifestyle program). These were aired on a video-on-demand network in London (UK) with 164 people out of a total of 375 participating all the way to the final steps of the study. Participants were most experienced with the Internet (mean 6.29 on 1-7scale) and 50% had had experience with an interactive television provider other than the VOD network. 70% had experience with teletext. Overall, participants felt positively towards interactive television as an information source for holiday planning. Those with teletext experience or iTV experience were more open to iTV than those without such experience. Furthermore, actual interaction with the treatment seemed to moderate the previous experience – iTV attractiveness link. This demonstrated that although previous technology experiences can transfer to new media, the actual experience of using the new media is also a powerful factor
A comparison of three interactive television AD formats
This study explores the effects of interacting with three current interactive television (iTV) ad formats, using an Australian audience panel. Interaction with iTV ads has positive effects on awareness and net positive thoughts, which increase purchase intentions compared with the influence of regular ads. The telescopic format represents the best format, likely because it makes the most of the entertaining possibilities of iTV by offering additional long-form video; its superior performance cannot be explained readily by self-selection effects. The results suggest that the effectiveness of iTV ads should be measured by their interaction rate rather than the much smaller response rate, and iTV advertisers should consider ways to maximize interaction and response rates

The Energy-Momentum Tensor in Noncommutative Gauge Field Models
We discuss the different possibilities of constructing the various
energy-momentum tensors for noncommutative gauge field models. We use Jackiw's
method in order to get symmetric and gauge invariant stress tensors--at least
for commutative gauge field theories. The noncommutative counterparts are
analyzed with the same methods. The issues for the noncommutative cases are

Multiplicity dependence of the average transverse momentum in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC
Cyanobacteria, a group of photosynthetic prokaryotes, oscillate between day and night time metabolisms with concomitant oscillations in gene expression in response to light/dark cycles (LD). The oscillations in gene expression have been shown to sustain in constant light (LL) with a free running period of 24 h in a model cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942. However, equivalent oscillations in metabolism are not reported under LL in this non-nitrogen fixing cyanobacterium. Here we focus on Cyanothece sp. ATCC 51142, a unicellular, nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium known to temporally separate the processes of oxygenic photosynthesis and oxygen-sensitive nitrogen fixation. In a recent report, metabolism of Cyanothece 51142 has been shown to oscillate between photosynthetic and respiratory phases under LL with free running periods that are temperature dependent but significantly shorter than the circadian period. Further, the oscillations shift to circadian pattern at moderate cell densities that are concomitant with slower growth rates. Here we take this understanding forward and demonstrate that the utradian rhythm under LL sustains at much higher cell densities when grown under turbulent regimes that simulate flashing light effect. Our results suggest that the ultradian rhythm in metabolism may be needed to support higher carbon and nitrogen requirements of rapidly growing cells under LL. With a comprehensive Real time PCR based gene expression analysis we account for key regulatory interactions and demonstrate the interplay between clock genes and the genes of key metabolic pathways. Further, we observe that several genes that peak at dusk in Synechococcus peak at dawn in Cyanothece and vice versa. The circadian rhythm of this organism appears to be more robust with peaking of genes in anticipation of the ensuing photosynthetic and respiratory metabolic phases
Particle correlations at RHIC from parton coalescence dynamics -- first results
A new dynamical approach that combines covariant parton transport theory with
hadronization channels via parton coalescence and fragmentation is applied to
Au+Au at RHIC. Basic consequences of the simple coalescence formulas, such as
elliptic flow scaling and enhanced proton/pion ratio, turn out to be rather
sensitive to the spacetime aspects of coalescence dynamics.Comment: Contribution to Quark Matter 2004 (January 11-17, 2004, Oakland, CA).

Single Electron Elliptic Flow Measurements in Au+Au Collisions from STAR
Recent measurements of elliptic flow (v_2) and the nuclear modification
factor (R_{CP}) of strange mesons and baryons in the intermediate p_T domain in
Au+Au collisions demonstrate a scaling with the number of constituent-quarks.
This suggests hadron production via quark coalescence from a thermalized parton
system. Measuring the elliptic flow of charmed hadrons, which are believed to
originate rather from fragmentation than from coalescence processes, might
therefore change our view of hadron production in heavy ion collisions.
While direct v_2 measurements of charmed hadrons are currently not available,
single electron v_2 at sufficiently high transverse momenta can serve as a
substitute. At transverse momenta above 2 GeV/c, the production of single
electrons from non-photonic sources is expected to be dominated by the decay of
charmed hadrons. Simulations show a strong correlation between the flow of the
charmed hadrons and the flow of their decay electrons for p_T > 2 GeV/c.
We will present preliminary STAR results from our single electron v_2
