Towards a business model for sustainable supply chain management

Designers make decisions that ultimately impact on both the economic, environmental and social performance of the products and process, and many of these costs and impacts occur across the supply chain. This paper aims to show initials elements of a research which aims to develop an integrated business model for sustainable supply chain management in order to facilitate the business management process in terms of assessment of suppliers and collaboration addressed to the sustainable improvements across supply chain. It is noteworthy that it is an imperative in the current competitive market that companies must be able to manage their entire production chain taking into account sustainable issues as an important factor in their decision processes. Therefore, it is believed that this model can integrate and strengthen a company’s functions and assist its decision processes as well as implement improvements within its supply chain

Neoplasia renal con extensión a la vena cava

La neoplasia renal con extensión a la vena cava es relativamente rara (4-10%). Cualquiera que sea la terapia coadjuvante (radioterapia, hormonal, quimioterapia e inmunoterapia), la exéresis completa del trombo tumoral de la vena cava continúa siendo la mejor forma de tratamiento. El valor pronóstico de la extensión cefálica de un trombo tumoral en la vena cava inferior en enfermos con carcinoma de células renales es controvertido. Es posible conseguir una larga supervivencia después del tratamiento quirúrgico en enfermos con carcinoma de células renales localizado (supervivencia de 50% en 5 años). Los autores describen un caso de carcinoma de células renales con extensión a la vena cava en un enfermo del sexo masculino, de 70 años de edad. El enfermo presentaba una historia de lumbalgia derecha y edema del miembro inferior homolateral. La resonancia magnética demostró la presencia y el nivel del trombo tumoral. El enfermo fue sometido a nefrectomía radical derecha y exéresis completa del trombo tumoral de la vena cava. Renal cancer with vena cava tumour thrombus is relatively rare (4 to 10%). Because of the poor results obtained with any kind of alternative therapy (e.g. radiation, hormonal, chemotherapy and immunotherapy) operation with complete removal of the vena cava tumour thrombus continues to be the better method of treatment. The prognostic significance of the cephalic extent of an inferior vena caval tumor thrombus associated with renal cell carcinoma is controversial. Long-term survival after surgical treatment is possible in patients with localized renal cell carcinoma (survival 50% at five years). The authors report a case of vena caval extension of renal cell carcinoma in a 70-years-old man. The patient presented with a history of right lombar pain and pedal edema. Magnetic Ressonance demonstrated the presence and the level of tumoral thrombus. The patient was submitted to a radical nefrectomy and complete removal of tumor thrombus from vena caval

Não tem periodicidade estipulada.Estuda-se o fragmento de laje de lioz com parte de uma inscrição romana, localizado, em Dezembro de 2016, no adro da igreja quinhentista de São Bartolomeu (Castanheira do Ribatejo, Vila Franca de Xira, distrito de Santarém). Lê-se apenas C // IVLIVS (hedera), em capital quadrada do início do Império. Apesar de fragmentária, a epígrafe, decerto proveniente da próxima villa de Subserra, constitui mais um elemento a mostrar a pujança dessa villa logo nos primórdios da ocupação romana, na sequência do que, de resto, já se conhecia da sua prosperidade na Idade do Ferro e, até, na época dos Fenícios

The Estimation of the Effective Centre of Mass Energy in q-qbar-gamma Events from DELPHI

The photon radiation in the initial state lowers the energy available for the e$^+$e$^-$ collisions; this effect is particularly important at LEP2 energies (above the mass of the Z boson). Being aligned to the beam direction, such initial state radiation is mostly undetected. This article describes the procedure used by the DELPHI experiment at LEP to estimate the effective centre-of-mass energy in hadronic events collected at energies above the Z peak. Typical resolutions ranging from 2 to 3 GeV on the effective center-of-mass energy are achieved, depending on the event topology.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

Observation of the Kohn anomaly near the K point of bilayer graphene

The dispersion of electrons and phonons near the K point of bilayer graphene was investigated in a resonant Raman study using different laser excitation energies in the near infrared and visible range. The electronic structure was analyzed within the tight-binding approximation, and the Slonczewski-Weiss-McClure (SWM) parameters were obtained from the analysis of the dispersive behavior of the Raman features. A softening of the phonon branches was observed near the K point, and results evidence the Kohn anomaly and the importance of considering electron-phonon and electron-electron interactions to correctly describe the phonon dispersion in graphene systems.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
