SeaClouds: Agile management of complex applications across multiple heterogeneous clouds
SeaClouds is a European FP7 research project, whose goal is to develop a novel open solution to provide developers with the capabilities to design, configure, deploy, and manage complex applications across multiple heterogeneous clouds in an efficient and adaptive way
Co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 with Chlamydia or Mycoplasma pneumoniae: a case series and review of the literature
Introduction: The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has spread all over the world causing a global pandemic and representing a great medical challenge. Nowadays, there is limited knowledge on the rate of co-infections with other respiratory pathogens, with viral co-infection being the most representative agents. Co-infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae has been described both in adults and pediatrics whereas only two cases of Chlamydia pneumoniae have been reported in a large US study so far. Methods: In the present report, we describe a series of seven patients where co-infection with C. pneumoniae (n = 5) or M. pneumoniae (n = 2) and SARS-CoV-2 was detected in a large teaching hospital in Rome. Results and conclusion: An extensive review of the updated literature regarding the co-infection between SARS-CoV-2 and these atypical pathogens is also performed
Nonlinear Optical Properties of Ni(Me6pzS2)MX (M = Ni, Pd, Pt; X = Me2timdt, mnt).
The authors study the 2nd-order response of complexes Ni(Me6pzS2)MX (M = Ni, Pd, Pt; X = Me2timdt (monoanion of N,N'-disubstituted imidazolidine-2,4,5-trithione), mnt (maleonitriledithiolate)): by binding the porphyrazine to the metal-dithiolene, the electron asymmetry and π-conjugation of the latter is increased, and its 2nd-order response can result enhanced. By performing ab initio calcns. of the ground-state and response properties of these compds., the authors predict the mol. 1st hyperpolarizability, the authors elucidate its electronic origin, and the authors illustrate its dependence on the metal and the dithiolene ligand. Study indicates that these complexes show a very high 2nd-order response, comparable to that of org. push-pull materials, and that the appropriate metal-dithiolene combination can significantly enhance it. Effects of deficit irrigation using saline water on 'chenopodium quinoa willd.' Grown in a mediterranean environment
Chenopodium quinoa Willd. is an Andean species that shows a good adaptability to different environmental conditions. A field trial was carried out in 2009 at the CNR-ISAFoM research station to evaluate the response of quinoa under combined stresses of salinity and water shortage. Three irrigation treatments were compared 100, 50, and 25% of the water necessary to replenish to field capacity the soil layer explored by roots. Each treatment was irrigated with saline (ECw 20 dS m-1) and nonsaline water. Standing up to the high expectations, quinoa confirmed the resistance to salinity and water deficit and yield was not significantly different for both water and saline. Similar results were found also for plant water status parameters. © ISHS
