This bilingual booklet on photographer Burtynsky was produced to accompany an exhibition at The Art Gallery of the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. Curtis traces the artist's influences including the work of Watkins, a 19th century American photographer who used a large-plate camera. The author underscores the artist's decision to depict how the landscape has changed as a result of technological and industrial expansion, but emphasizes that his perspective is anthropolgical, rather than political/moral.
