Nanodiamonds for device applications: An investigation of the properties of boron-doped detonation nanodiamonds
© 2018 The Author(s). The inclusion of boron within nanodiamonds to create semiconducting properties would create a new class of applications in the field of nanodiamond electronics. Theoretical studies have differed in their conclusions as to whether nm-scale NDs would support a stable substitutional boron state, or whether such a state would be unstable, with boron instead aggregating or attaching to edge structures. In the present study detonation-derived NDs with purposefully added boron during the detonation process have been studied with a wide range of experimental techniques. The DNDs are of ~4 nm in size, and have been studied with CL, PL, Raman and IR spectroscopies, AFM and HR-TEM and electrically measured with impedance spectroscopy; it is apparent that the B-DNDs studied here do indeed support substitutional boron species and hence will be acting as semiconducting diamond nanoparticles. Evidence for moderate doping levels in some particles (âŒ10 17 B cm -3 ), is found alongside the observation that some particles are heavily doped (âŒ10 20 B cm -3 ) and likely to be quasi-metallic in character. The current study has therefore shown that substitutional boron doping in nm NDs is in fact possible, opening-up the path to a whole host of new applications for this interesting class of nano-particles
Between gynocriticism and the Freudian psychoanalytic interpretation of feminity the divide seems difficult to bridge. Yet some conceptual haze has obscured the issue. While gynocriticism has mapped a new literary landscape for women, psychoanalytic criticism is probing textual traces. The invention of a new reading style combining theory and autobiography stems from an intimate inquiry into what a woman wants.Lemardeley-Cunci Marie-Christine.
Despite its seeming departure from her fantastic vein, Rikki Ducor-netâs latest novel, Gazelle (2003), situated in the fragrant setting of Cairo in the 1950âs, is structured like " a sequence of charmsâ. By rekindling the historical meanings of âwantâ and of " wanton , â used as a verb, Rikki Ducornet stirs the sleeping significance of â wanting â as both lack and desire. The link between the chapters, that could stand as autonomous vignettes, is created by the ubiquitous figure of the Mother, brilliantly overwhelming by her absence.
In Mason & Dixon, Thomas Pynchon paradoxically attempts to represent America through the most unbelievable and anachronistic figures. Mediation there need be between the text and the world. The first two parts of the work consider two mediating texts, that of the dictionary, with which the novel entertains ambivalent relations, then that of the encyclopedia, and more specifically of the historical and scientific discourses therein. After this approach of the extraordinary complexity of Pynchon's prose, the third part tackles what is at the heart of the text, that place where out of words figures emerge, and where figures show themselves to be the stuff language is made of. The fourth part concentrates on representation in the novel, on the way it turns space inside out, and the work as a whole attempts to point to the thin veil on which the dance of text and world takes place. To point to it, not behind, because there is nothing behind the veil.TOURS-BU Lettres (372612102) / SudocPARIS3-BU (751052102) / SudocSudocFranceF

Lâespace louche : Ă propos de tender is the night
