Topology of Entanglement in Multipartite States with Translational Invariance
The topology of entanglement in multipartite states with translational
invariance is discussed in this article. Two global features are foundby which
one can distinguish distinct states. These are the cyclic unit and the
quantised geometric phase. Furthermore the topology is indicated by the
fractional spin. Finally a scheme is presented for preparation of these types
of states in spin chain systems, in which the degeneracy of the energy levels
characterises the robustness of the states with translational invariance.Comment: major revision. accepted by EPJ
Maximum likelihood based estimation of frequency and phase offset in DCT OFDM systems under non-circular transmissions: algorithms, analysis and comparisons
Recently, the advantages of the discrete cosine transform (DCT) based orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) have come to the light. We thus consider DCT- OFDM with non-circular transmission (our results cover circular transmission as well) and present two blind joint maximum- likelihood frequency offset and phase offset estimators. Both our theoretical analysis and numerical comparisons reveal new advantages of DCT-OFDM over the traditional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based OFDM. These advantages, as well as those already uncovered in the early works on DCT-OFDM, support the belief that DCT-OFDM is a promising multi-carrier modulation scheme
The X-ray transient XTE J1118+480: Multiwavelength observations of a low-state mini-outburst
We present multiwavelength observations of the newly discovered X-ray
transient XTE J1118+480 obtained in the rising phase of the 2000 April
outburst. This source is located at unusually high Galactic latitude and in a
very low absorption line of sight. This made the first EUVE spectroscopy of an
X-ray transient outburst possible. Together with our HST, RXTE, and UKIRT data
this gives unprecedented spectral coverage. We find the source in the low hard
state. The flat IR-UV spectrum appears to be a combination of optically thick
disk emission and flat spectrum emission, possibly synchrotron, while at higher
energies, including EUV, a typical low hard state power-law is seen. EUVE
observations reveal no periodic modulation, suggesting an inclination low
enough that no obscuration by the disk rim occurs. We discuss the nature of the
source and this outburst and conclude that it may be more akin to
mini-outbursts seen in GRO J0422+32 than to a normal X-ray transient outburst.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, replaced with accepted version. Uses

Ethnic marketing to the global millennial consumers: Challenges and opportunities
This paper reports on an exploratory interpretivist study of global millennial consumers' subjective interpretations of ethnic targeted marketing communications in a multicultural marketplace. Although millennials are the most ethnically diverse generational cohort that has ever existed, little is known about their interpretation of ethnicity depiction in advertising and how they draw from advertising imagery to infer their ethnic identity, social acceptance and inclusion in a culturally diverse society. Within the broader context of the global consumer culture, this paper draws on theories of social identity, persuasion and multiculturalism to investigate whether ethnic marketing is still applicable to reach the diverse millennial consumers. In-depth interviews with the photo elicitation technique were conducted with an ethnically heterogeneous sample of twenty-three millennial individuals in the UK. The findings show that ethnic millennials' multicultural identities cannot be primed through mono-ethnic targeted messages, whereas multi-ethnic embedded marketing communications provide a more effective access for the ethnically diverse millennial consumers in the modern society and can potentially be a viable solution towards enhanced wellbeing and lower prejudice. This study contributes to insights into millennial consumers' experience in the multicultural marketplace, the sociocultural meanings of ethnic advertising and the opportunities and challenges of reaching to this diverse audience
Opaque Service Virtualisation: A Practical Tool for Emulating Endpoint Systems
Large enterprise software systems make many complex interactions with other
services in their environment. Developing and testing for production-like
conditions is therefore a very challenging task. Current approaches include
emulation of dependent services using either explicit modelling or
record-and-replay approaches. Models require deep knowledge of the target
services while record-and-replay is limited in accuracy. Both face
developmental and scaling issues. We present a new technique that improves the
accuracy of record-and-replay approaches, without requiring prior knowledge of
the service protocols. The approach uses Multiple Sequence Alignment to derive
message prototypes from recorded system interactions and a scheme to match
incoming request messages against prototypes to generate response messages. We
use a modified Needleman-Wunsch algorithm for distance calculation during
message matching. Our approach has shown greater than 99% accuracy for four
evaluated enterprise system messaging protocols. The approach has been
successfully integrated into the CA Service Virtualization commercial product
to complement its existing techniques.Comment: In Proceedings of the 38th International Conference on Software

Comorbidity of compulsive buying and brand addiction: An examination of two types of addictive consumption
While compulsive buying and brand addiction are both addictive consumption, little is known about how they jointly impact on consumers. This research demonstrates that compulsive buying and brand addiction are distinct phenomena and may co-occur. Data from this research demonstrates that while compulsive buying has negative impacts, brand addiction does not result in debt and has positive impacts on self-esteem and life happiness. Compulsive buying is positively related to brand addiction, and brand addiction positively mediates the relationships between compulsive buying and debt avoidance, self-esteem and life happiness. This research introduces a new perspective on theorizing comorbid addiction of compulsive buying and brand addiction by providing evidence that brand addiction may not be pathological, and compulsive buying's negative effects may be weakened or eliminated in the presence of brand addiction. It opens avenues for further research to create broader and more parsimonious theoretical models for responsive marketing approaches to addictive consumption
Gluon GPDs and Exclusive Photoproduction of a Quarkonium in Forward Region
Forward photoproduction of can be used to extract Generalized Parton
Distributions(GPD's) of gluons. We analyze the process at twist-3 level and
study relevant classifications of twist-3 gluon GPD's. At leading power or
twist-2 level the produced is transversely polarized. We find that at
twist-3 the produced is longitudinally polarized. Our study shows that
in high energy limit the twist-3 amplitude is only suppressed by the inverse
power of the heavy quark mass relatively to the twist-2 amplitude. This
indicates that the power correction to the cross-section of unpolarized
can have a sizeable effect. We have also derived the amplitude of the
production of at twist-3, but the result contains end-point
singularities. The production of other quarkonia has been briefly discussed.Comment: Discussions of results are adde
