Committed users are ready to share information, advise others, while less expert users seek this information. In their paper the authors show that related user-generated content i.e. blogs and bulletin boards provide a rich data source for analysis, which gives them the opportunity to further elaborate on the diffusion of information in the case of smart phone usage among online Hungarian users. Online collective intelligence may well contribute to the diffusion of innovations through diffusing information. Following a thorough review on the literature on the diffusion of innovations, in their exploratory content analysis, they found two categories of users on the analyzed boards: a first group we dubbed "experts" (corresponding to innovators in Bass's typology) that made a special effort trying to solve particular problems thus contributing to collective intelligence, thus reducing (among others) the perceived complexity of these phones and adding to their trialability, both factors influencing users' innovation acceptance, and a second group, "simple users" (or imitators in Bass's typology), uninterested in product innovation, still asking questions and searching for solutions concerning extant technology. Manufacturers do not seem yet to regard these boards as a source of valuable data, even though these clearly serve as an important pool of information and a growing factor of decision for their potential customers
The New (Marketing) Role of Firms as Media Content Providers – The case of SME’s Strategic Social Media Presence
In the new social media context, it is gradually more common to say that each party can itself be considered
a media content provider, firms included (through their brand pages). This tendency is reflected in a
rising professional field called “content marketing”. This study incorporates the perspective of small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the scope of social media (SM) as a marketing communications and
media content distribution system. In an exploratory content analysis of 20 official SM brand pages with
1281 analyzed posts the authors study how SMEs respond to the advent of a new paradigm of marketing
communications with special attention to their usage of media-specific contents. SM impels companies
to eventually rethink the traditional one-way communication flow of their marketing messages and
to incorporate a new, two-way communication into their marketing strategy, where (their engaged and
involved) users can create, modify, share and discuss content related to the firm’s activity. This study’s
preliminary results show that diffusing content generally acts for SMEs as a facilitator to involve fans by
offering a thematized space for them to manifest themselves in company-related topics. Therefore, content
adds to the firms’ possibilities of brand positioning by offering a reflection of fans’ company- and contentrelated
behavior, which is a supplementary source of information
Re-written by machine and new technology: Did the Internet kill the Video Star
The traditional way of understanding television content consumption and viewer reactions may be simply summarised: information about the program, viewing at airing time, and
interpersonal discussion after the program. In our digital media environment due to crossmedia consumption and platform shifts, the actual trend in audiovisual, and traditionally television content consumption is changing, the viewer’s journey is different across contents
and platforms. Content is becoming independent from the platform and the medium is increasingly in the hands of technologically empowered viewers.
Our objective is to uncover how traditional content expressly manufactured for television (series, reality shows, sports) can now be consumed via other platforms, and how and to what extent audiovisual content consumption is complemented or replaced by other forms (text, audio). In our exploratory research we identify the typical patterns of interaction and synergies of consumption across classical media content. In this study we
used a multimethodology qualitative research design with three research phases including focus groups, online content analysis, and viewers’ narratives. Overall, the Video Star stays alive, but has to deal with immediate reactions and has to change according to his or her
audiences’ wishe
Mindenki máskĂ©pp vesz rĂ©szt: A közönsĂ©grĂ©szvĂ©tel marketing-megközelĂtĂ©seinek kritikus elemzĂ©se
„TĂşl a nyugati világon – hogyan hasonlĂtsuk össze a mĂ©diamodelleket?” – ezzel a cĂmmel tartott Paolo Mancini 2012. május 11-Ă©n elĹ‘adást. A Budapesti Gazdasági FĹ‘iskola KĂĽlkereskedelmi Karának Társadalomtudományi IntĂ©zete Ă©s a Magyar Tudományos AkadĂ©mia Könyvtára meghĂvására Budapestre Ă©rkezett elĹ‘adĂłt a MĂ©diakutatĂł nevĂ©ben Bajomi-Lázár PĂ©ter kĂ©rdezte Daniel Hallinnal társszerzĹ‘kĂ©nt jegyzett, Comparing Media Systems (2004) cĂmű könyvĂ©nek fogadtatásárĂłl Ă©s Ăşj, Hallinnal társszerkesztĹ‘kĂ©nt jegyzett, Comparing Media Systems Beyond the Western World (2012) cĂmű könyvĂ©nek tanulságairĂłl. Az uralkodĂł Ăşj marketinglogikának megfelelĹ‘en a cĂ©gek rákĂ©nyszerĂĽlnek arra, hogy egyre komplexebb cserefolyamatok során ragadják meg Ă©s vonják be fogyasztĂłikat közvetlenĂĽl ĂĽzleti folyamataikba. A fogyasztĂłi rĂ©szvĂ©tel ebben a kontextusban nem Ă©r vĂ©get a márka iránti figyelemnĂ©l, a vállalat vagy a szervezet által indĂtott elektronikus „szájreklámnál” Ă©s az egyĂ©b, a vállalatot Ă©rintĹ‘ interaktĂv, az interneten keresztĂĽl elĂ©rhetĹ‘ ĂĽzeneteknĂ©l. Maguk a fogyasztĂłk, a cĂ©lközönsĂ©g tagjai is hirdetĂ©seket hoznak lĂ©tre Ă©s közvetĂtik azokat a szervezetek Ă©rdekĂ©ben vagy az ellen, valamint Ăşj termĂ©keket fejlesztenek több közös alkotĂłfolyamat során, Ă©s az Ăşj árazási modellek bevezetĂ©se kapcsán nyomást gyakorolnak a szervezetekre. ĂŤgy a felhasználĂłk által generált tartalmak elterjedĂ©se Ă©s fejlĹ‘dĂ©se marketing- Ă©s ĂĽzleti szempontbĂłl is meghatározĂłvá válik. Jelen tanulmány cĂ©lja, hogy a marketing- Ă©s a marketingkommunikáciĂłs szakirodalom alapján áttekintsĂĽk a közönsĂ©grĂ©szvĂ©tel jelensĂ©gĂ©nek fogalmait Ă©s taxonĂłmiai elemeit, s a kulcsfogalmak azonosĂtásán, magyarázatán Ă©s csoportosĂtásán keresztĂĽl javaslatot tegyĂĽnk az angol nyelvű fogalmak magyar nyelvű használatára
"Lájk első látásra?" – Mi inspirálja a márkák kedvelését az online térben, kis vendéglátóhelyek esetében? ("Like at first sight?" – What inspires liking brands in online social media in the case of small catering establishments?)
A márkatulajdonosok számára elsĹ‘dleges fontosságĂş, hogy feltĂ©rkĂ©pezzĂ©k saját márkaközössĂ©gĂĽket, ezáltal is elĹ‘segĂtve a közössĂ©gi fĂłkuszĂş kommunikáciĂłs tevĂ©kenysĂ©gĂĽket. KĂĽlönösen igaz ez a jellemzĹ‘en kis- Ă©s közĂ©pvállalati formában működĹ‘ vendĂ©glátĂłhelyek számára, ahol a közössĂ©gi mĂ©dia sokszor az egyetlen rendelkezĂ©sre állĂł marketingkommunikáciĂłs eszköz.
Empirikus kutatásunkban fogyasztĂłi narratĂvákat (n=151) elemzĂĽnk a tartalomelemzĂ©s mĂłdszertanával. A válaszadĂłkat arra kĂ©rtĂĽk, hogy Ărjanak kedvenc vendĂ©glátĂłhelyĂĽkkel valĂł kapcsolatukrĂłl az online tĂ©rben. ElemzĂ©sĂĽnkben arra keressĂĽk a választ, hogy a márkaközössĂ©gek tagjai milyen belsĹ‘ indĂttatásbĂłl kerĂĽltek kapcsolatba kedvenc vendĂ©glátĂłhelyeikkel a közössĂ©gi platformokon. Az elsĹ‘sorban fogyasztási Ă©lmĂ©nyekhez kötött kapcsolat online közössĂ©gi tĂ©rbe valĂł kiterjesztĂ©sĂ©re olyan belsĹ‘ motiváciĂłkat tártunk fel, mint a pragmatikusabb informáciĂłközpontĂş indĂttatások (pl. kizárĂłlagos informáciĂłk, naprakĂ©szsĂ©g, vállalati ajánlatok, közössĂ©gimĂ©dia-specifikus tartalmakhoz valĂł hozzáfĂ©rĂ©s igĂ©nye), az Ă©rzelmi kötĹ‘dĂ©s kifejezĂ©se (pl. nosztalgia, ismerĹ‘söknek valĂł ajánlás, szemĂ©lyes Ă©rintettsĂ©g), a társas befolyás (oldalak kedvelĂ©se mint kommunikáciĂłs tartalom, konformitás, önkifejezĂ©s), valamint a vállalati alapkĂ©pessĂ©geken tĂşlmutatĂł egyĂ©b tematikus kapcsolĂłdások. ____ It is of primary importance for brand owners to map their own brand community, in order to
stimulate their social-focused communication activity. This is especially true for typically small
and medium-sized catering enterprises, where in most cases, social media is the only available
marketing communications tool.
In our empirical research, we analyze consumer narratives (n=151) with the methodology of
content analysis. We asked the respondents to write about their relationship with their most
preferred catering establishments in the online social sphere. In our research, we search for
the inner intention by which members of brand communities got connected with their most
preferred catering establishments on social platforms. We revealed such inner motivations for
users extending a primarily experience (an consumption) based relationship to the online social
sphere like rather pragmatic, information-focused intentions (e.g. exclusive information, timeliness, company offers, access claim for social media -specific contents), the expression of emotional binding (e.g. nostalgia, reference for acquaintances, personal involvement), social influence (the like as communication content, conformity, self-expression), and other thematic
linkages beyond core company competences
The Attributes of Social Media as a Strategic Marketing Communication Tool
New digital trends are transforming the media industry landscape, modifying elemental characteristics and attitudes of companies as well as of consumers. Firms often claim that their presence in social media (SM) is a key element to success. SM helps companies rethink the traditional one-way flow of their marketing messages and to incorporate a new interactive pattern into their communications. Nevertheless, these tendencies involve problems of strategic myopia for firms that do not structurally integrate these tools. One main problem is that institutions can rarely differentiate between the various types of SM and the attributes thereof, while the literature equally reveals a number of contradictions in the subject. The present conceptual paper lays the foundations of a strategic approach to SM and discusses its theoretical implications. Following an overview on the concept of SM, through a content analysis of the specialized management literature (n = 14), we present various best practices and reflect on the apparent lack of strategic thinking in using SM as a marketing application. Then, we compare these practical examples with general marketing strategy theory. By merging theory and practice, we aim to provide an insight towards a well-founded application of SM as a genuinely strategic marketing tool
Egy diszkont légitársaság mint márkaközösség a közösségi médiában? = A low-cost airline as a brand community in social media?
A közössĂ©gi mĂ©dia könnyen elĂ©rhetĹ‘ lehetĹ‘sĂ©get biztosĂt a márkák számára felĂĽlrĹ‘l vezĂ©relt
virtuális közösségek létrehozására. Kellő feltételek mellett a márkaközösségi működés sikeressége

Social media offer a rather easy way to introduce top-down establishment and management
for brands of virtual communities. The success of a brand community operation may provide a
positive return for the company under optimal conditions. Our research consists of a netnographic
analysis of posts (n1=206) and comments (n2=536) on the official Facebook page of chosen lowcost carrier Wizzair. We investigate which types of post elicit the higher number of comments from
users, and what the tone of user response is to these posts. Contrary to our prior assumptions, our
results show a strong emphasis on consumer-oriented communication and, overall, an attractive
organization. Our results, however, are slightly influenced by the presence of sweepstakes, outof-context consumer reactions in search of customer service, and an overall neutral (instead of
markedly positive) sentiment in user comments
