    PLAUTUS AND ROTROU: TRANSLATING COMIC DRAMAS IN THE 17th CENTURY. BETWEEN RESPECT AND CREATIONWhen translating ancient comic dramas, the playwrights of early 17th-century France adapt the texts to contemporary bienséances both poetical and social ones.
