Effects of reflux laryngitis on non-nutritive swallowing in newborn lambs

Reflux laryngitis in infants may be involved not only in laryngeal disorders, but also in disorders of cardiorespiratory control through its impact on laryngeal function. Our objective was to study the effect of reflux laryngitis on non-nutritive swallowing (NNS) and NNS-breathing coordination. Two groups of six newborn lambs, randomized into laryngitis and control groups, were surgically instrumented for recording states of alertness, swallowing and cardiorespiratory variables without sedation. A mild to moderate reflux laryngitis was induced in lambs from the experimental group. A significant decrease in the number of NNS bursts and apneas was observed in the laryngitis group in active sleep (p=0.03). In addition, lower heart and respiratory rates, as well as prolonged apnea duration (p<0.0001) were observed. No physiologically significant alterations in NNS-breathing coordination were observed in the laryngitis group. We conclude that a mild to moderate reflux laryngitis alters NNS burst frequency and autonomous control of cardiac activity and respiration in lambs

Les enjeux territoriaux et culturels de l’aménagement linguistique en Trentin-Tyrol du Sud, de la période fasciste à nos jours

La région Trentin-Tyrol du Sud (Italie) constitue un terrain de recherche pertinent pour étudier l’aménagement linguistique, c’est-à-dire l’organisation linguistique dans un territoire donné. Un rappel historique met l’accent sur la conception fasciste du territoire national comme un espace centralisé produit par un territoire, un peuple et une langue unique, d’où l’« italianisation » du Tyrol du Sud, renforcée par la migration intérieure. Jusqu’aux années quatre-vingt-dix, une certaine indifférence est marquée par rapport à la question des minorités linguistiques. Un revirement se produit ensuite dans la province de Trente, avec la reconnaissance des minorités linguistiques qui envoie une image positive de la province. En amont des décisions en matière d’aménagement linguistique se dessinent des représentations territoriales, mais aussi des enjeux politiques et économiques et, en aval, des impacts territoriaux et culturels conséquents.The Trentino-Südtyrol region (Italy) is a relevant area of research in the study of linguistic development, that is to say the organisation of languages in a given territory. Then a shift occurred in the Province of Trento with the recognition of linguistic minorities, which convey a positive image of the region. Before decisions regarding linguistic planning are taken, territorial representations should emerge and political and economical aspects are also at stake. Following these, substantial territorial and cultural aspects are to be taken into account
