Dit verslag bevat een computermodel, dat is ontwikkeld om het effect van de N-beschikbaarheid op de dynamiek van plantesoorten in een mengcultuur te simuleren. Het doel van deze studie is de vraag te beantwoorden, welke planteneigenschappen het succes van een soort bepalen in een nutrientarme, danwel in een nutrientrijke omgeving. De volgende grassoorten zijn daarbij gebruikt: Festuca rubra, Arrhenatherum elatius, Anthoxanthum odoratum en Alopecurus pratensi

Sustainability aspects of biobased applications : comparison of different crops and products from the sugar platform BO-12.05-002-008

In this study different uses of biomass are compared. In order to allow for a systematic comparison the study focuses on three different chemicals that can be produced from sugar. In this way it is also, in principle, possible to compare different crops for the production of the same product. The study focuses on the production of PLA (polylactic acid, a bioplastic), ethanol, and biopolyethylene (bio-PE, which is produced via ethanol). These three products can presently be produced from biomass and therefore form realistic cases. All three products are produced from sugars, and thus the systems can be decoupled at the sugar step. The sugar can be produced from different crops. In this study five different crops are compared: wheat, maize, sugar beet, sugar cane and Miscanthus. Uit de mest- en mineralenprogramma's : Praktijksituatie graslandvernieuwing

In Nederland wordt in de praktijk veel grasland vernieuwd (jaarlijks ca. 13% van het graslandareaal). Graslandvernieuwing vindt plaats door herinzaai van blijvend grasland of in een wisselbouwsysteem met akkerbouwgewassen. Kennis van de huidige praktijksituatie van graslandvernieuwing is nodig bij de ontwikkeling van adviezen en richtlijnen, zodat nutriëntenverliezen beperkt kunnen worden. In het kader van het project "Synthese van bodem-gewassystemen" in 398-II is graslandvernieuwing in de praktijk onderzocht door middel van een schriftelijke enquête onder melkveehouders en een workshop. Duurzaamheid van biobased producten : energiegebruik en broeikasgasemissie van producten met suikers als grondstof

In deze studie is onderzocht hoe de duurzaamheid van verschillende biobased producten die uit fermenteerbare suikers kunnen worden gemaakt zich tot elkaar verhoudt. Daarbij is gekeken naar het gebruik van niet-hernieuwbare energie en de uitstoot van broeikasgassen tijdens het gehele productieproces, inclusief het telen van de gewassen. Er zijn vijf verschillende gewassen met elkaar vergeleken. In de studie zijn verschillende invalshoeken gekozen, waarbij in het ene geval er voor wordt gekozen de co-producten te verzamelen en om te zetten in energie, en in het andere geval de huidige landbouwpraktijk wordt aangenomen, waarbij co-producten deels op het land blijven liggen. Verder wordt het effect getoond van verschillende manieren om de data te presenteren. Drie manieren van presenteren leiden schijnbaar tot verschillende conclusies
