    Structure/Deformation Relationship in a ß Metastable Ti-Alloy

    No full text
This paper presents the first results of an ongoing research which was set up to investigate the influence of ß-rich microstructures on the derformation mechanisms of the recently developed ß-Cez alloy. Depending on the heat treatment, strong differences in the mecanical behaviour of this ß metastable alloy were obtained. They can be explained by the relative contribution of slip and formation of stress induced martensite during deformation. The relative contribution of the two mechanisms is influenced by the chemical composition of the ß phase and also by microstructural features. In particular, large ß grains are shown to favour the formation of stress induced martensite
