Electrostatic Modulation of the Electronic Properties of Dirac Semimetal Na3Bi
Large-area thin films of topological Dirac semimetal NaBi are grown on
amorphous SiO:Si substrates to realise a field-effect transistor with the
doped Si acting as back gate. As-grown films show charge carrier mobilities
exceeding 7,000 cm/Vs and carrier densities below 3 10
cm, comparable to the best thin-film NaBi. An ambipolar field effect
and minimum conductivity are observed, characteristic of Dirac electronic
systems. The results are quantitatively understood within a model of
disorder-induced charge inhomogeneity in topological Dirac semimetals. Due to
the inverted band structure, the hole mobility is significantly larger than the
electron mobility in NaBi, and when present, these holes dominate the

A previously developed method, based on a Shepard interpolation procedure to automatically construct a quantum mechanical potential energy surface (PES), is extended to the construction of multiple potential energy surfaces using multiconfigurational wave functions. These calculations are accomplished with the interface of the PES-building program, GROW, and the GAMESS suite of electronic structure programs. Family in Rehabilitation, Empowering Carers for Improved Malnutrition Outcomes: Protocol for the FREER Pilot Study
Interventions to improve the nutritional status of older adults and the integration of formal and family care systems are critical research areas to improve the independence and health of aging communities and are particularly relevant in the rehabilitation setting.The primary outcome aimed to determine if the FREER (Family in Rehabilitation: EmpowERing Carers for improved malnutrition outcomes) intervention in malnourished older adults during and postrehabilitation improve nutritional status, physical function, quality of life, service satisfaction, and hospital and aged care admission rates up to 3 months postdischarge, compared with usual care. Secondary outcomes evaluated include family carer burden, carer services satisfaction, and patient and carer experiences. This pilot study will also assess feasibility and intervention fidelity to inform a larger randomized controlled trial.This protocol is for a mixed-methods two-arm historically-controlled prospective pilot study intervention. The historical control group has 30 participants, and the pilot intervention group aims to recruit 30 patient-carer pairs. The FREER intervention delivers nutrition counseling during rehabilitation, 3 months of postdischarge telehealth follow-up, and provides supportive resources using a novel model of patient-centered and carer-centered nutrition care. The primary outcome is nutritional status measured by the Scored Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment Score. Qualitative outcomes such as experiences and perceptions of value will be measured using semistructured interviews followed by thematic analysis. The VISTA Science Archive
We describe the VISTA Science Archive (VSA) and its first public release of
data from five of the six VISTA Public Surveys. The VSA exists to support the
VISTA Surveys through their lifecycle: the VISTA Public Survey consortia can
use it during their quality control assessment of survey data products before
submission to the ESO Science Archive Facility (ESO SAF); it supports their
exploitation of survey data prior to its publication through the ESO SAF; and,
subsequently, it provides the wider community with survey science exploitation
tools that complement the data product repository functionality of the ESO SAF.
This paper has been written in conjunction with the first public release of
public survey data through the VSA and is designed to help its users understand
the data products available and how the functionality of the VSA supports their
varied science goals. We describe the design of the database and outline the
database-driven curation processes that take data from nightly
pipeline-processed and calibrated FITS files to create science-ready survey
datasets. Much of this design, and the codebase implementing it, derives from
our earlier WFCAM Science Archive (WSA), so this paper concentrates on the
VISTA-specific aspects and on improvements made to the system in the light of
