Correlation of emotional intelligence and leadership among student- leaders: Goleman\u27s four competencies

    No full text
Emotional intelligence has been studied extensively. Daniel Goleman\u27s competency model, which divides emotional intelligence into self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management, is one of the most supported. The researchers tested the Goleman model by measuring the emotional intelligence and leadership of management student-leaders of two prestigious universities. Results showed that each of Goleman\u27s four competencies was significantly correlated with leadership, although the correlation between social awareness and leadership was slightly weaker. The researchers recommend including emotional intelligence training in the curriculum in order to aid in leadership development of students

An empirical investigation of the causal relationship among monetary variables with equity market returns in the Philippine setting

    No full text
This study explores the long-term dynamic relationship between equity market returns and monetary variables from an observable period of ten years (1999-2008) in the Philippines. Monetary variables include money supply as measured by M1 money, treasury bill rates as a proxy for interest rates, foreign exchange rates and the inflation rate. The sample base to check the causality will be the thirty firms of the Philippine Stock Exchange index. The data has been examined using Granger causality analysis. Finally, based on the resulting causality test, further analysis and a predictive model will be created to explore the practical application of the subject matter

UBC Building Operations : strategic consultation

Reducing GHG emissions to zero is an ambitious but essential goal that UBC wishes to achieve. Our strategy is to utilize top of the line technology to collect data while creating a sense of accountability across departments and individuals to make it their personal goal to achieve zero-emissions. While increasing collaboration opportunities with UBC departments, we also suggest Building Operations to transition from their existing fleet to electric vehicles and ultimately to autonomous vehicles. These initiatives will allow UBC to not only maximize efficiency of their fleets, but also bring down GHG emissions to the zero level that they aim to achieve.
