Geometric Construction of AdS Twistors
Time-like geodesics in AdS_4, AdS_5 and AdS_7 are constructed geometrically
and independently of choice of AdS coordinates from division algebra spinors of
the corresponding AdS groups, explaining and generalising the construction by
Claus et al. of AdS_5 twistors.Comment: 11 pp, 1 figur
The Santa Claus Rally in U.S. Stock Market Returns
The Santa Claus Rally in stock market returns implies that stock returns on average are significantly higher in the last five trading days of December and the first two trading days of January than the average returns of the remaining trading days of the year. We examine the existence of the Santa Claus Rally in U.S. stock returns from January 2000 to December 2021. Our results reveal that Santa Claus Rally is not prevalent in the U.S. stock market from 2000 to 2021. We also examined the existence of the Santa Claus Rally by two calendar sub-periods. Santa Claus Rally does not exist in the first sub-period of 2000 to 2009 as well as in the second sub-period of 2010 to 2021. We further examined the prevalence of the Santa Claus Rally over the two phases of economic cycles. We did not find Santa Claus Rally during periods of economic expansions as well as during periods of economic recessions. We conclude Santa Claus Rally does not exist in the U.S. stock market
THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF THE MYTH OF SANTA CLAUS IN ADVERTISEMENTS
ABSTRACT
Yuliani Puspita Sari. C1307534. 2011. The Commercialization of the Myth of
Santa Claus in Advertisements. Thesis. English Department. Faculty of letters
and Fine Arts. Sebelas Maret University Surakarta.
This Research is conducted to find out the presentation of The
Commercialization of the Myth of Santa Claus in Advertisements by analyzing
five advertisements which use Santa Claus as their image. This research is
formulated in a question: how is the commercialization of the myth of Santa Claus
in advertisements. The purpose of this research is to reveal the commercialization
of the myth of Santa Claus in advertisement.
The source of data used in this research is five advertisements featuring
Santa Claus which are taken from Internet. These advertisements are chosen as
they related to the topic or research. The supporting data are taken from books,
articles, and websites.
This research applies library research in the form of analytic qualitative
research. Since this research is carried out within American Studies discipline, it
employs interdisciplinary approaches. They are historical approach, mythological
approach, and semiotic approach.
From the analysis, it is found that Santa Claus is commercialized in the
five advertisements. The five advertisements commercialize Santa Claus who is
known as the mythical figure of gift giver in Christmas Eve to sell the product of
the advertisements. Santa Claus is exploited in five advertisements through many
sides, including captions, positions, colors, and the presence of the other persons.
The five advertisements commercialize Santa Claus to attract the consumers to
buy and consume the product by showing the message which is conveyed in these
advertisements
Santa and the moon
Happy end-of-the-year evening and night events provide good opportunities to
explain the phases of the moon. The need for such moon phase education is once
again demonstrated, through an investigation of illustrations on Santa Claus
and Christmas gift wrap and in children's books, in two countries which have
been important in shaping the image of Santa Claus and his predecessor
Sinterklaas: The Netherlands and the USA. The moon on Halloween illustrations
is also considered. The lack of knowledge concerning the physical origin of the
moon phases, or lack of interest in understanding, is found to be widespread in
The Netherlands but is also clearly present in the USA, and is quite possibly
global. Definitely incomplete, but surely representative lists compiling both
scientifically correct and scientifically incorrect gift wrap and children's
books are also presented.Comment: Text, plus 4 figures and 4 tables; to appear in vol.12 of the

Protocol-Safe Workflow Support for Santa Claus
Practical software analysis techniques exploit a form a process description, mostly in some \ud
avour of state diagram. Unlike typing information, these process structures are usually not passed down to the implementation level, and neither are they exploited in any form of consistency check. It is our belief that the information in most designs suffices to perform all sorts of consistency checks. This workshop paper studies a simple case where work\ud
ow processes interact with `actual' objects at the implementation level, and demonstrates how useful protocol checking can be in making and keeping these processes consistent with each other
