Leptogenesis origin of Dirac gaugino dark matter
The Dirac nature of the gauginos (and also the Higgsinos) can be realized in
-symmetric supersymmetry models. In this class of models, the Dirac bino (or
wino) with a small mixture of the Dirac Higgsinos is a good dark matter
candidate. When the seesaw mechanism with Higgs triplet superfields is
implemented to account for the neutrino masses and mixing, the leptogenesis
driven by the heavy triplet decay is shown to produce not only the
matter-antimatter asymmetry but also the asymmetric relic density of the Dirac
gaugino dark matter. The dark matter mass turns out to be controlled by the
Yukawa couplings of the heavy Higgs triplets, and it can be naturally at the
weak scale for a mild hierarchy of the Yukawa couplings.Comment: 9 pages. Restructured for clear presentation, corrected some errors

Swift Observations of X-ray supernovae
We present a result of X-ray supernovae (SNe) survey using the Swift
satellite public archive. An automatic searching program was designed to search
X-ray SNe among all of the Swift archival observations between November 2004
and February 2011. Using the C++ program, 24 X-ray detectable supernovae have
been found in the archive and 3 of them were newly-discovered in X-rays which
are SN 1986L, SN 2003lx, and SN 2007od. In addition, SN 2003lx is a Type Ia
supernova which may be the second X-ray detectable Type Ia after SN 2005ke
(Immler et al. 2006). Calibrated data of luminous type Ib/c supernovae was
consistent to the X-ray emission model done by Chevalier & Fransson (1994).
Statistics about the luminosities and hardness ratio have been done to purpose
of getting the X-ray emission features of the X-ray supernovae. The results
from this work help investigating the X-ray evolution of SNe and developing
similar X-ray SNe surveys in various X-rays missions
Effects of motion on jet exhaust noise from aircraft
The various problems involved in the evaluation of the jet noise field prevailing between an observer on the ground and an aircraft in flight in a typical takeoff or landing approach pattern were studied. Areas examined include: (1) literature survey and preliminary investigation, (2) propagation effects, (3) source alteration effects, and (4) investigation of verification techniques. Sixteen problem areas were identified and studied. Six follow-up programs were recommended for further work. The results and the proposed follow-on programs provide a practical general technique for predicting flyover jet noise for conventional jet nozzles
Dilaton Stabilization and Inflation in the D-brane World
We study the dilaton stabilization in the D-brane world in which a D-brane
constitutes our universe. The dilaton can be stabilized due to the interplay
between the D-brane tension and the negative scalar curvature of extra
dimensions. Cosmic evolution of the dilaton is investigated with the obtained
dilaton potential and it is found that inflation can be realized before the

Breakdown of the lattice polaron picture in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 single crystals
When heated through the magnetic transition at Tc, La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 changes
from a band metal to a polaronic insulator. The Hall constant R_H, through its
activated behavior and sign anomaly, provides key evidence for polaronic
behavior. We use R_H and the Hall mobility to demonstrate the breakdown of the
polaron phase. Above 1.4Tc, the polaron picture holds in detail, while below,
the activation energies of both R_H and the mobility deviate strongly from
their polaronic values. These changes reflect the presence of metallic,
ferromagnetic fluctuations, in the volume of which the Hall effect develops

Berry's phase contribution to the anomalous Hall effect of gadolinium
When conduction electrons are forced to follow the local spin texture, the
resulting Berry phase can induce an anomalous Hall effect (AHE). In gadolinium,
as in double-exchange magnets, the exchange interaction is mediated by the
conduction electrons and the AHE may therefore resemble that of chromium
dioxide and other metallic double-exchange ferromagnets. The Hall resistivity,
magnetoresistance, and magnetization of single crystal gadolinium were measured
in fields up to 30 T. Measurements between 2 K and 400 K are consistent with
previously reported data. A scaling analysis for the Hall resistivity as a
function of the magnetization suggests the presence of a Berry's-phase

Coercive Field and Magnetization Deficit in Ga(1-x)Mn(x)As Epilayers
We have studied the field dependence of the magnetization in epilayers of the
diluted magnetic semiconductor Ga(1-x)Mn(x)As for 0.0135 < x < 0.083.
Measurements of the low temperature magnetization in fields up to 3 T show a
significant deficit in the total moment below that expected for full saturation
of all the Mn spins. These results suggest that the spin state of the
non-ferromagnetic Mn spins is energetically well separated from the
ferromagnetism of the bulk of the spins. We have also studied the coercive
field (Hc) as a function of temperature and Mn concentration, finding that Hc

Can one identify the intrinsic structure of the yrast states in Cr after the backbending?
The backbending phenomenon in Cr has been investigated using the
recently developed Projected Configuration Interaction (PCI) method, in which
the deformed intrinsic states are directly associated with shell model (SM)
wavefunctions. Two previous explanations, (i) band crossing, and (ii)
band crossing have been reinvestigated using PCI, and it was found that
both explanations can successfully reproduce the experimental backbending. The
PCI wavefunctions in the pictures of band crossing and band
crossing are highly overlapped. We conclude that there are no unique intrinsic
states associated with the yrast states after backbending in Cr.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
