    Lightning impulse performance of polluted traction insulators

    Wykonano pomiary napi臋cia przeskoku przy udarach piorunowych na zabrudzonych izolatorach trakcyjnych. Stosowano warstw臋 sta艂膮 nawilgacan膮 w komorze klimatycznej o wilgotno艣ci powietrza zbli偶onej do 100% albo warstw臋 flow-on. Wykazano, 偶e przy tym samym ESDD napi臋cie przeskoku izolatora zabrudzonego warstw膮 stal膮 jest ni偶sze ni偶 izolatora zabrudzonego warstw膮 flow-on pomimo, 偶e konduktywno艣膰 warstwy sta艂ej jest znacznie nisza. Efekt ten wynika z 艂atwiejszej propagacji 艂uku wzd艂u偶 warstwy sta艂ej zawieraj膮cej ma艂o wody.The lightning impulse flashover voltage on clean and polluted traction insulators was measured. The solid layer or flow-on layer were applied. The solid layer was wetted by moisture absorption from very humid air. At the same ESDD the flashover voltage was smaller on insulators polluted by the solid layer. This effect is unexpected because at the same ESDD the solid layer surface conductivity is smaller than the surface conductivity of the flow-on layer. The phenomenon could be explained by an easier arc propagation over the solid layer

    Leakage current on porcelain and silicone insulators under sea or light industrial pollution

    The leakage current on heavily polluted silicone rubber insulators is usually smaller than on similarly polluted porcelain insulators. In this paper, results are presented that show that under light contamination, the currents on the two types of insulators can have similar values. Results are also presented from two different sites that show that under certain conditions the currents on silicone insulators can be higher than on porcelain. The phenomenon is explained, referring to the superior washability of the porcelain and moisture absorption of the pollution layer on the silicone rubber insulators during times of high humidity. 漏 2011 IEEE.Articl
