The signatures of the new particles h2h_2 and ZμτZ_{\mu\tau} at e-p colliders in the U(1)LμLτU(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} model

Considering the superior performances of the future e-p colliders, LHeC and FCC-eh, we discuss the feasibility of detecting the extra neutral scalar h2h_{2} and the light gauge boson ZμτZ^{}_{\mu\tau}, which are predicted by the U(1)LμLτ{U(1)}_{L^{}_{\mu} - L^{}_{\tau}} model. Taking into account the experimental constraints on the relevant free parameters, we consider all possible production channels of h2h_{2} and ZμτZ^{}_{\mu\tau} at e-p colliders and further investigate their observability through the optimal channels in the case of the beam polarization P(ee^{-})= -0.8. We find that the signal significance above 5σ\sigma of h2h_{2} as well as ZμτZ^{}_{\mu\tau} detecting can be achieved via epejh2(ZμτZμτ) ej+/ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ETe^{-}p\to{e^{-}jh_{2}(\to{Z_{\mu\tau}Z_{\mu\tau}})}\to~e^{-}j+/\!\!\!\!{E}^{}_{T} process and a 5σ\sigma sensitivity of ZμτZ^{}_{\mu\tau} detecting can be gained via epejh1(ZμτZμτ) ej+/ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ETe^{-}p\to{e^{-}jh_{1}(\to{Z^{}_{\mu\tau}Z^{}_{\mu\tau}})\to}~e^{-}j+/\!\!\!\!{E}^{}_{T} process at e-p colliders with appropriate parameter values and a designed integrated luminosity. However, the signals of h2h_{2} decays into pair of SM particles are difficult to be detected.Comment: 22 pages, 9 figures, references added and typos are correcte

Epitaxial hetero-structure of CdSe/TiO2 nanotube arrays with PEDOT as hole transfer layer for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution

The photocatalytic decomposition of water is believed to be able to help mitigate the crisis of fossil fuel depletion. However, the photocatalytic hydrogen production remains challenge to obtain high and stable photoconversion efficiency. Here we report an epitaxial hetero-structure of CdSe/TiO2 nanotube arrays as efficient photo-anodes via simple room-temperature, low-cost electrochemical deposition. With the help of the similar d spacing with TiO2, CdSe sensitization layer is epitaxially grown on the tube wall of the TiO2 nanotubes, resulting in an ideal coherent grain boundary and single crystal growth. The resultant photo-anode produces 30% more photocurrent than those samples without coherent grain boundary. Notably, the especial epitaxial hetero-structure is beneficial to decrease the recombination site and accelerate the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Furthermore, an ultrathin PEDOT surface layer was developed on the epitaxial hetero-structure of CdSe/TiO2 nano-tube arrays in which it functions as both a physical passivation barrier and a hole transfer layer. As a result, significantly enhanced photocurrent density and substantially better stability have been achieved. This methodology may be providing a new pathway of epitaxial growth for preparing the heterogeneous junction materials which have similar d spacing

Will Stock Rise on Valentine’s Day?

This study is a pioneer in academic literature to investigate the relationship between Valentine’s Day and stock market returns of major economies around the world. The findings indicate that stock returns are higher on the days when Valentine’s Day is approaching than on other days for most cases, showing “the Valentine Effect” in the stock market. Specific control variables for Valentine’s Day are also introduced to eliminate the potential influence of other effects. Unlike other holiday effects in previous literature, the Valentine’s Day Effect cannot be explained by many conventional theories, such as tax-loss selling and the inventory adjustment hypothesis

How Social Experience Encourages Donation Intention to Charitable Crowdfunding Projects on Social Media: Empathy and Personal Impulsiveness

    Get PDF
Embedding charitable crowdfunding into social media is a new practice that encourages prosocial behaviors. The rich social experience in charitable crowdfunding on social media distinguishes this context from other conventional contexts like charity fundraising websites. Specifically, this study incorporates social experience, empathy and personal impulsiveness to investigate donation intention in this new context. By analyzing survey data collected in China, this study finds that empathy mediates the effects of interaction with fundraiser and perceived proximity with donatee on a user’s donation intention. Social influence on social media platform is found to have positive influences on empathy and on donation intention. This study also investigates how empathy’s influence on donation intention varies by personal impulsiveness. It contributes to extant literature by highlighting the mediating role of empathy and the moderating role of personal impulsiveness. It also provides practical insights to encourage pro-social behaviors

What drives people to purchase virtual gifts in live streaming? The mediating role of flow

    Get PDF
Live streaming, a new form of social media, is growing explosively due to its real-time interaction and new monetization model. Considering its popularity and unique features, it is important to gain a theoretical understanding of live streaming. Yet limited attention has been paid to it. This research investigates what factors may affect people’s consumption intention of virtual gifts in live streaming from contextual and personal dimensions. Based on flow theory, this study also explores the mediating role of flow and the moderating role of gender. The theoretical framework is tested using Structural Equation Modeling based on survey data collected in China. The study contributes to flow theory by highlighting the importance of flow in mediating the effects of interactivity, social presence, curiosity and social media dependence on consumption intention of virtual gifts. It also reveals gender differences in the influence of flow on consumption intention of virtual gifts
