Improving the Effectiveness of Fuzzy Front End Management: Expanding Stage-Gate Methodologies Through Agile

More now than ever before, product development has become more challenging and complex with all the globalization around business today. Understanding the requirements of unfamiliar markets can be very challenging for organizations trying to speed-up their innovations. Also with the advent of globalization there is pressure on everyone to perform better and roll out new products in the market. The fuzzy front end process is very dynamic and unstructured process. By taking advantage of the key characteristics of Agile and Stage-Gate model, an Integrated Agile- Stage- Gate Hybrid model was developed which could help in improving the effectiveness of the fuzzy front end process. The goal of this research is to improve the effectiveness of Fuzzy Front End innovation process by expanding Stage-Gate methodologies through Agile. In order to do this, literature review was done to understand and review various Stage-Gate approaches, focusing on the problems of the Stage-Gate model and solutions provided by the succeeding frameworks. The key contribution of the research is an assessment of different Stage- Gate models which has been developed over the years focusing on their problems and the solutions given by Agile to resolve these problems. Recommendations are made in the end accordingly

Project Proposal: Smart Thermos

The project which is currently being pursued is the invention of Smart Thermos. The main purpose of the project is to assemble and launch a Smart Thermos. The thermos consists of software and hardware features which can help users track their liquid consumption. This invention not only help users stay aware about their liquid consumption, but also keeps them alert on the lack of usage for their health purposes. This project will be performed by five different types of engineers belonging in the fields along with the vendor and procurement managers

Team 2 Project Report

Apple is one of the well-known brand which provide users its innovative devices such as cell phones, computers, apple TV etc. To help the customers stay up to date with the newest cell phone device, the Apple company has introduced a concept of the apple upgrade plan which lets the customers upgrade to a newly launched cell phone device every year. This paper first compares the cell phone rates by studying the apple upgrade plan offered by Apple along with different carrier plans. Next, it studies the inflation rates (high, average, and low) along with the AppleCare+ option, and helps users find the most effective alternative in cost for three different types of consumers: perfect, average, and clumsy consumers. We conclude that in high and average inflation rates, the best alternative for a perfect and average consumer is to upgrade to iPhone through a carrier without purchasing AppleCare+, although the clumsy consumer should opt for apple upgrade plan. However, in the low inflation rate, the average consumer should choose apple upgrade plan if they expect next four years in a low economic development
