    A Study on Verification of the Dynamic Modeling for a Submerged Body Based on Numerical Simulation

    This study proposed a procedure to identify maneuvering coefficients that brought about abnormal motions in the simulation of a submerged body. The first step in responding to abnormal motions was conducting stability analysis to determine whether the submerged body could be simulated. If doing so was feasible, sensitivity analysis was then performed to determine maneuvering coefficients that caused the abnormal motion in the simulation. Finally, we analyzed the order of maneuvering coefficients identified by the sensitivity analysis. We also compared it with empirical formulas and other results obtained from model tests. The dynamics model targeting a high-speed submerged body was indirectly verified by the above procedure. In this study, the effectiveness of the dynamic model was verified, and parameters causing the abnormal motion were identified in accordance with the developed procedure

    Ultrafast exciton transfers in DNA and its nonlinear optical spectroscopy

    We have calculated the nonlinear response function of a DNA duplex helix including the contributions from the exciton population and coherence transfers by developing an appropriate exciton theory as well as by utilizing a projector operator technique. As a representative example of DNA double helices, the B-form (dA)10-(dT)10 is considered in detail. The Green functions of the exciton population and coherence transfer processes were obtained by developing the DNA exciton Hamiltonian. This enables us to study the dynamic properties of the solvent relaxation and exciton transfers. The spectral density describing the DNA base-solvent interactions was obtained by adjusting the solvent reorganization energy to reproduce the absorption and steady-state fluorescence spectra. The time-dependent fluorescence shift of the model DNA system is found to be ultrafast and it is largely determined by the exciton population transfer processes. It is further shown that the nonlinear optical spectroscopic techniques such as photon echo peak shift and two-dimensional photon echo can provide important information on the exciton dynamics of the DNA double helix. We have found that the exciton-exciton coherence transfer plays critical roles in the peculiar energy transfer and ultrafast memory loss of the initially created excitonic state in the DNA duplex helix

    Price Fairness and Brand Credibility by Effective Disclosure of Cost Information

    Building on the prospect theory, this experimental study was aimed at exploring effective ways of disclosing cost and understanding consumers\u27 responses with the following research questions: (1) how varying cost information results in positive consumer perceptions (price fairness and brand credibility), (2) how gain and loss mediate between cost information and positive perceptions, and (3) how loss and gain framed cost information affect perceptions. With a between-subjects experimental design (Table 1), Study 1 examined the effect of cost information by comparing C, S1 and S2 conditions. Study 2 compared S2 and S3 to find the effect of differently framed cost information by adding a different cost structure from traditional retail: S2 (loss framed) emphasized loss derived from non-purchase of focal brand due to traditional retail\u27s higher markup rate than the brand\u27s rate, and S3 (gain framed) emphasized the benefit of purchasing the focal brand because despite of the same retail price, traditional retail provided low true cost and high markup

    Circuit Structure and Control Method to Reduce Size and Harmonic Distortion of Interleaved Dual Buck Inverter

    A new circuit structure and control method for a high power interleaved dual-buck inverter are proposed. The proposed inverter consists of six switches, four diodes and two inductors, uses a dual-buck structure to eliminate zero-cross distortion, and operates in an interleaved mode to reduce the current stress of switch. To reduce the total harmonic distortion at low output power, the inverter is controlled using discontinuous-current-mode control combined with continuous-current-mode control. The experimental inverter had a power-conversion efficiency of 98.5% at output power = 1300 W and 98.3% at output power = 2 kW, when the inverter was operated at an input voltage of 400 V-DC, output voltage of 220 V-AC/60 Hz, and switching frequency of 20 kHz. The total harmonic distortion was < 0.66%, which demonstrates that the inverter is suitable for high-power dc-ac power conversion.11Ysciescopu
