    The Literature Review of Technology Acceptance Model: A Study of the Bibliometric Distributions

    Technology acceptance model plays a signified issue in the information systems field since this theory was introduced by Davis in 1989. This paper investigates the features of technology acceptance model literature based on bibliometric method. By searching the ISI Web of knowledge database under the keyword of “technology acceptance model,” 689 articles were retrieved and analyzed though growth of the literatures and citation, document type, publication countries, subject area, keyword analysis are addressed. The distribution of journal paper was also examined using Bradford’s law and Lotka’s law. As the result, this research found that technology acceptance model literature has a steady growth as well as the citations. Relevant articles were concentrating on computer science, information systems, management, information science, and library science. The author productivity distribution data in technology acceptance literature was consistent with Lotka’s law. Furthermore, eight core journals were identified utilizing the Bradford’s law

    Missing link in community psychiatry: When a patient with schizophrenia was expelled from her home

    Treatment and disposition of homeless patients with schizophrenia represent a great challenge in clinical practice. We report a case of this special population, and discuss the development of homelessness, the difficulty in disposition, their utilization of health services, and possible applications of mandatory community treatment in this group of patients. A 51-year-old homeless female was brought to an emergency department for left femur fracture caused by an assault. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia about 20 years ago but received little help from mental health services over the decades. During hospitalization, her psychotic symptoms were only partially responsive to treatment. Her family refused to handle caretaking duties. The social welfare system was mobilized for long-term disposition. Homeless patients with schizophrenia are characterized by family disruption, poor adherence to health care, and multiple emergency visits and hospitalization. We hope this article can provide information about the current mental health policy to medical personnel. It is possible that earlier intervention and better outcome can be achieved by utilizing mandatory community treatment in the future, as well as preventing patients with schizophrenia from losing shelters

    Observational connection of non-thermal X-ray emission from pulsars with their timing properties and thermal emission

    The origin and radiation mechanisms of high energy emissions from pulsars have remained mysterious since their discovery. Here we report, based on a sample of 68 pulsars, observational connection of non-thermal X-ray emissions from pulsars with their timing properties and thermal emissions, which may provide some constraints on theoretical modeling. Besides strong correlations with the spin-down power E˙\dot{E} and the magnetic field strength at the light cylinder BlcB_{\rm lc}, the non-thermal X-ray luminosity in 0.5 - 8 keV, LpL_{\rm p}, represented by the power-law component in the spectral model, is found to be strongly correlated with the highest possible electric field strength in the polar gap, EpcE_{\rm pc}, of the pulsar. The spectral power index Γp\Gamma_{\rm p} of that power-law component is also found, for the first time in the literature, to strongly correlate with E˙\dot{E}, BlcB_{\rm lc} and EpcE_{\rm pc}, thanks to the large sample. In addition, we found that LpL_{\rm p} can be well described by LpT5.96±0.64R2.24±0.18L_{\rm p}\propto T^{5.96\pm 0.64}R^{2.24\pm 0.18}, where TT and RR are the surface temperature and the emitting-region radius of the surface thermal emission, represented by the black-body component in the spectral model. Γp\Gamma_{\rm p}, on the other hand, can be well described only when timing variables are included, and the relation is Γp=log(T5.8±1.93R2.29±0.85P1.19±0.88P˙0.94±0.44)\Gamma_{\rm p} = \log(T^{-5.8\pm 1.93}R^{-2.29\pm 0.85}P^{-1.19\pm 0.88}\dot{P}^{0.94\pm 0.44}) plus a constant. These relations strongly suggest the existence of connections between surface thermal emission and electron-positron pair production in pulsar magnetospheres.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, accepted by MNRA

    Obesity is not associated with increased operative complications in single-site robotic partial nephrectomy

    PURPOSE: To evaluate the impact of high body mass index (BMI) on outcomes following robotic laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (R-LESS) robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RPN). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data from 83 Korean patients who had undergone robotic partial nephrectomy from 2006 to 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. The subjects were stratified into two groups according to WHO definitions for the Asian population, consisting of 56 normal range (BMI=18.5-24.99 kg/m²) and 27 obese (≥25 kg/m²) patients. Outcome measurements included Trifecta achievement and the perioperative and postoperative comparison between high and normal BMI series. The measurements were estimated and analyzed with SPSS version 17. RESULTS: Tumor's complexity characteristics (R.E.N.A.L. score, tumor size) of both groups were similar. No significant differences existed between the two groups with regard to operative time (p=0.27), warm ischemia time (p=0.35) estimated blood loss (p=0.42), transfusion rate (p=0.48) renal function following up for 1 year, positive margins (p=0.24) and postoperative complication rate (p=0.34). Trifecta was achieved in 5 (18.5%) obese and 19 (33.9%) normal weight patients, respectively (p=0.14). In multivariable analysis, only tumor size was significantly correlated with the possibility of Trifecta accomplishment. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that R-LESS RPN can be effectively and safely performed in patients with increased BMI, since Trifecta rate, and perioperative and postoperative outcomes are not significantly different in comparison to normal weight subjects.ope
