    The Japanese translation of the Gold-MSI: Adaptation and validation of the self-report questionnaire of musical sophistication

    This study presents a Japanese translation of the Goldsmiths Musical Sophistication Index (Gold-MSI). The index consists of 38 self-report questions and provides a general sophistication score as well as subscale scores for Active Engagement, Perceptual Abilities, Musical Training, Singing Abilities, and Emotions. The validation of the translation with 689 native Japanese speakers indicated excellent internal consistency and test–retest reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the bifactor model structure formulated by the original study of Gold-MSI is maintained reasonably in our data. The strengths of the Gold-MSI self-report inventory are (1) it offers a multifaceted view of musical sophistication, (2) a subset of five subscales can be used to measure different aspects of musical sophistication independently, and (3) the ease of administration as it is a self-report questionnaire. In view of the fact that this inventory and its translations increasingly contribute to research on musical expertise, skills, and abilities, having a Japanese translation may enhance future research in these areas even further

    Iron deposition in autopsied liver on patients receiving long-term TPN

    Background Vitamins and minerals are routinely administered by total parenteral nutrition (TPN). However, in Japan, adjustments in iron dosage are difficult because blended mineral preparations are often used. It is therefore unclear whether the iron content is appropriate in cases of long-term TPN. The aim of the study was to assess the influence of iron administration by long-term TPN on iron deposition in post-mortem liver samples isolated from older deceased patients. Methods Liver tissues were collected from post-mortem autopsies of 187 patients over a period of 15 years. Samples were stained with Prussian blue and histologically evaluated from Grade 0–V by at least three different observers. Specimens with positive and negative iron staining were compared, and positive samples were grouped according to the level and distribution of the staining. Post-mortem blood obtained from the subclavian vein during autopsy was also analysed. Samples were collected for the measurement of unsaturated serum iron, serum iron, albumin, prealbumin, hepcidin, and IL-6 concentrations. Results Iron accumulation in the liver was significantly higher in male patients (p = 0.005) with a history of surgery (p = 0.044) or central vein administration of iron (p<0.001). Additionally, the duration of TPN in the iron-positive group was significantly longer than in the iron-negative group (p = 0.038). Serum analysis revealed that unsaturated serum iron was significantly higher in the iron-negative group and that ferritin and serum iron were significantly higher in the iron-positive group. No other statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups. Conclusions Chronic intravenous administration of iron was associated with iron deposition in the liver, even when given the minimum recommended dosage. In long-term TPN patients, the iron dose should therefore be carefully considered

The healing back is reorganized by form from at-home (a medical office) to hospitalization (a large scale hospital) and at-home (a medical office) to visit a hospital for treatment again in the medical office, and a shift change is made to a community medicine. And, as a window of the medical institution of a side taking the introduction of the patient, each organization establishes community medicine cooperation room) these days. Although I am almost common about the ideal method of the function of the cooperation room of each engine, however, there is few difference about the staff and the duties contents belonging to. I think that these some differences control administration greatly. This time I inspected it about an ideal method of the cooperation room than the side of the medical social-worker who belonged to the cooperation room. As a result the result that a medical social work function got the side to be important for administration of the cooperation room from one instance example was provided.昨今、「機能分化」と「効率的な医療体制の構築」が謳われ、各医療機関は一医療機関で治療を完結する医療ではなく、各病院同士が連携をし支援を行う、通称「病診連携」、「病病連携」として連携し合うシステムに構築されてきている。その基礎には、患者は住みなれた地域で生活するという理念がある。患者は住み慣れた地域の診療所(かかりつけ医)に通院し、そして、高度な医療が必要な場合には大規模・中規模病院に診療所(かかりつけ医)の紹介により通院をする。治癒後は、再度診療所に通院を行うという、「在宅(診療所)から入院(大・中規模病院)、そして在宅(診療所)へ」という形に再編され、地域医療へシフトチェンジがなされている。そして、その患者の紹介を受ける側の医療機関の窓口として、昨今、各機関は「地域医療連携室」を開設している。各機関の連携室の機能のあり方についてはほぼ共通しているものの、所属している職員及び、その業務内容については若干違いが存在する。この若干の違いが運営を大きく左右するものであると考える。この度は連携部門に所属する医療ソーシャルワーカーの側面より、連携室のあり方について検証を行った。その結果、一事例から、医療ソーシャルワーク機能が連携室の運営に重要であるという側面を得る結果が得られた

    Detection of Gamma-rays around 1TeV from RX J0852.0-4622 by CANGAROO-II

    We have detected gamma-ray emission at the 6sigma level at energies greater than 500GeV from the supernova remnant RX J0852.0-4622 (G266.2-1.2) using the CANGAROO-II Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT). The flux was 0.12 times of that of Crab at 1TeV. The signal centroid is consistent with the peak of the X-ray emission in the north-west rim of the remnant.Comment: 12pages, 4figures, to be published in ApJ
