Dynamic Resonance Effects in the Statistical Distributions of Asteroids and Comets
Some principles in the distribution of Centaurs and the "Scattered Disk"
objects, as well as the Kuiper belt objects for its semi-major axes,
eccentricities and inclinations of the orbits have been investigated. It has
been established, that more than a half from them move on the resonant orbits
and that is what has been predicted earlier. The divergence of the maximum in
the observable distribution of the objects of the Kuiper belt for the

Keck Pencil-Beam Survey for Faint Kuiper Belt Objects
We present the results of a pencil-beam survey of the Kuiper Belt using the
Keck 10-m telescope. A single 0.01 square degree field is imaged 29 times for a
total integration time of 4.8 hr. Combining exposures in software allows the
detection of Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) having visual magnitude V < 27.9. Two
new KBOs are discovered. One object having V = 25.5 lies at a probable
heliocentric distance d = 33 AU. The second object at V = 27.2 is located at d
= 44 AU. Both KBOs have diameters of about 50 km, assuming comet-like albedos
of 4%.
Data from all surveys are pooled to construct the luminosity function from
red magnitude R = 20 to 27. The cumulative number of objects per square degree,
N (< R), is fitted to a power law of the form log_(10) N = 0.52 (R - 23.5).
Differences between power laws reported in the literature are due mainly to
which survey data are incorporated, and not to the method of fitting. The
luminosity function is consistent with a power-law size distribution for
objects having diameters s = 50 to 500 km; dn ~ s^(-q) ds, where the
differential size index q = 3.6 +/- 0.1. The distribution is such that the
smallest objects possess most of the surface area, but the largest bodies
contain the bulk of the mass. Though our inferred size index nearly matches
that derived by Dohnanyi (1969), it is unknown whether catastrophic collisions
are responsible for shaping the size distribution. Implications of the absence
of detections of classical KBOs beyond 50 AU are discussed.Comment: Accepted to AJ. Final proof-edited version: references added,

Hybrid functionals within the all-electron FLAPW method: implementation and applications of PBE0
We present an efficient implementation of the PBE0 hybrid functional within
the full-potential linearized augmented-plane-wave (FLAPW) method. The
Hartree-Fock exchange term, which is a central ingredient of hybrid
functionals, gives rise to a computationally expensive nonlocal potential in
the one-particle Schroedinger equation. The matrix elements of this exchange
potential are calculated with the help of an auxiliary basis that is
constructed from products of FLAPW basis functions. By representing the Coulomb
interaction in this basis the nonlocal exchange term becomes a Brillouin-zone
(BZ) sum over vector-matrix-vector products. We show that the Coulomb matrix
can be made sparse by a suitable unitary transformation of the auxiliary basis,
which accelerates the computation of the vector-matrix-vector products
considerably. Additionally, we exploit spatial and time-reversal symmetry to
identify the nonvanishing exchange matrix elements in advance and to restrict
the k summations for the nonlocal potential to an irreducible set of k points.
Favorable convergence of the self-consistent-field cycle is achieved by a
nested density-only and density-matrix iteration scheme. We discuss the
convergence with respect to the parameters of our numerical scheme and show
results for a variety of semiconductors and insulators, including oxide
materials, where the PBE0 hybrid functional improves the band gaps and the
description of localized states in comparison with the PBE functional.
Furthermore, we find that in contrast to conventional local
exchange-correlation functionals ferromagnetic EuO is correctly predicted to be

Autonomic service configuration for telecommunication MASs with extended role-based GAIA and JADEx
Autonomie Communications have attracted huge attention recently for the management of telecommunication networks in the European Network Research Community. The purpose of this research is to offer the abilities such as autonomy, scalability, adaptation as well as simplicity for management application in complex networks. The accomplished networks inspired by biological mechanisms or market-based concepts could enable agents to be of intelligence, scalablility, and interoperabliliry in the management functional domains with regards to the large volume requirements from services' fulfillment perspective in decentralized Multi-Agent Systems. In accordance with TMF and FIPA specifications and requirements, the autonomy attributes self-configuring, self-adapting, self-limiting, self-preserving, and self-optimizing are involved into our simulation. Resource allocation requests are bidded for a long session in the multi-unit Vickrey-Clarke-Groves auction. This design adopts the software development methodology-GAIA and the framework-JADEx. We have shown multiple service configuration in dynamic network can be nearly optimized by autonomie behaviors via bidding according to business objectives for getting maximum revenues. We conclude this end-to-end approach maintains self-managing capability, easy-to-implement scalability, and more incentively compatible and efficient over other common implementation so that it could achieve the optimal solution to the flexible requirements for the Service Fulfillment for advanced IP networks. © 2005 IEEE
The Brightening of Re50N: Accretion Event or Dust Clearing?
The luminous Class I protostar HBC 494, embedded in the Orion A cloud, is
associated with a pair of reflection nebulae, Re50 and Re50N, which appeared
sometime between 1955 and 1979. We have found that a dramatic brightening of
Re50N has taken place sometime between 2006 and 2014. This could result if the
embedded source is undergoing a FUor eruption. However, the near-infrared
spectrum shows a featureless very red continuum, in contrast to the strong CO
bandhead absorption displayed by FUors. Such heavy veiling, and the high
luminosity of the protostar, is indicative of strong accretion but seemingly
not in the manner of typical FUors. We favor the alternative explanation that
the major brightening of Re50N and the simultaneous fading of Re50 is caused by
curtains of obscuring material that cast patterns of illumination and shadows
across the surface of the molecular cloud. This is likely occurring as an
outflow cavity surrounding the embedded protostar breaks through to the surface

Observables in the Decays of B to Two Vector Mesons
In general there are nine observables in the decay of a B meson to two vector
mesons defined in terms of polarization correlations of these mesons. Only six
of these can be detected via the subsequent decay angular distributions because
of parity conservation in those decays. The remaining three require the
